The Pilgrim’s Failed Socialist Experiment
William Bradford, the colony’s governor its first 30 years, wrote of the agreement between the Pilgrim passengers and the financial “Adventurers” in his book Of Plymouth Plantation. He noted that the seven-year contract signed July 1, 1620, before leaving Plymouth England, stipulated that the Pilgrims were to pool, for common benefit, “all profits and benefits that are got by trade, traffic, trucking, working, fishing, or any other means of any person or persons…” It further noted “that at the end of the seven years, the capital and profits, viz. the houses, lands, goods and chattels, be equally divided betwixt the Adventurers and Planters…” During this time the colonists were to “have their meat, drink, apparel, and all provisions out of the common stock and goods of the said colony.” It doesn’t get more socialistic than this because the government divvied out the goods and loafers received the same as those who worked.
The first two years the result was shortages and starvation. About half the colonists died. No one did more than the minimal because the incentive to excel was destroyed. The industrious were neutralized. Bradford wrote of the scarcity of food “no supply was heard of, neither knew they when they might expect any.” The socialist experiment Bradford added, “was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to the benefit and comfort. For the young men, that were most able and fit for labour and service, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense….” In other words, socialism made strong men lazy. In another book written by the same author, History of Plymouth Plantation, Bradford spoke of another problem because of the government created famine—thievery. Even in this Christian community, “much was stolen both by night and day….”
After two years of such, with the survival of the colony at stake, they contemplated upon “how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery.” They opted to abandon the incentive killing socialist contract in favor of the free market. And so they “assigned to every family a parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number, for that end…”
The effects were almost immediate. A delighted Governor Bradford wrote: “This had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor… could use, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better content. The women now went willingly into the field, and took their little ones with them to set corn; which before would allege weakness and inability; whom to have compelled would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.” In other words, the free market is a much greater stimulus than governmental force. The Pilgrims now wished to work because they got to keep the benefits of their labor. “Instead of famine now God gave them plenty,” Bradford wrote, “and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many, for which they blessed God…. Any general want or famine hath not been amongst them since to this day.”
Secure property rights are the key to prosperity for all who wish to work. When this right is threatened by confiscatory taxation or outright confiscation of property, or by excessive government rules and regulations governing such, whether planned as in a contract enforced by the government at Plymouth, or gradual as in our day, work and production slow and can eventually stop. The answer for them was to extract socialism from their midst as it is for us today as well. May we have the wisdom to do so?
Not saying I was there at Plymouth Rock but since D W Eisenhower, I have seen Socialism come and go and the end result is always the same, FAILURE of the country, people starve and are miserable, but that is the way of Liberal ism where everyone is equal, equally poor and equally miserable. But today, public indoctrination through education, doesn't teach this anymore and why stupid people believe Socialism can work. Venezuela is a perfect example of the failed Socialist Society.

Appeal to authority by dint of one one's age

Apparently it escapes you that how long one has been around has nothing to do with whether they do or don't know what socialism is, be it in the social, political or economic senses of the word.

And this is why the liberal uses the Rules for Radicals instead of debating the issue of why Socialism has failed over and over. This is also why a liberal is the most stupid person in the universe.

Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...

"...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

Nice try at placing on me the burden of proof for your claim to which I responded. I'm not about to try to prove that you know what "all about" socialism. That's for you to demonstrate, and attesting to how long you've been around isn't going to doing it.

One of these days, we need to establish a specific working definition of what socialism actually is.

Without such a definition, there can be no intelligent discussion.

For example, there are very few people advocating for what true socialism is - the complete, 100% control by the government of production and distribution of all capital and resources.

This all lies on a continuum. I know that makes it complicated, but it IS complicated, and doesn't fit on a bumper sticker.

Just showed you how True Socialism was tried at the beginning of the foundation of this country and those who tried it, many ended up dead. Every time a socialist experiment is created whether it is Far Right Socialism - Democratic Socialist Workers Party -Nazis, or Far Left Socialism - United Soviet Socialist Republic - Communism, those counties ended up with millions of people dying under those regimes. At first they seem harmless, but when people stop working because it isn't fair that those what work should pay for those that don't, soon the government(without any rights of the individuals) FORCES the "workers" to either work or die(or worse gulags). Shame you libtards don't realize this, as it happened over and over, and happens even today. Venezuela is a perfect example of who well Socialism works..

So you are for the government taking everything that you have then dividing it up to those that don't deserve it? Like illegals who come here illegally and will compete against your children and grandchildren who have followed the law?

Assuming your assertion quoted immediately above be true, it illustrates an awareness of some of Socialism's outcomes, not a comprehensive understanding of what Socialism is. What a philosophy is and what be its effects are two very different things. Remember, you claimed that:

You willing to give up all your rights and end up like Venezuela and have nothing but misery and poverty?

Can't you read? The state is us.
No, we the people is not the state, I am not part of the collective but an individual who holds accountable those that I have elected. Go ask Eric Canter what he thinks when he didn't do what we the people wanted?

You did indeed clam that outcome of Socialism. To the extent that by that claim you mean "full blown" Socialism, I don't disagree with you. To the extent you by that claim mean all implementations of limited aspects of socialist ideas, I don't agree with you.

Insofar as you claimed to "know all about [Socialism]," and didn't qualify the noted claim so that we readers could know precisely what you meant, it became apparent to me that you don't "know all about [Socialism]." Thus I chose not to engage with you on that element of your remarks for doing so requires you have a greater understanding of Socialism than you showed you in fact have.

The Pilgrim’s Failed Socialist Experiment
William Bradford, the colony’s governor its first 30 years, wrote of the agreement between the Pilgrim passengers and the financial “Adventurers” in his book Of Plymouth Plantation. Yes it would be nice, if every liberal who believes Socialism is the answer, would take a cruise ship to Cuba and see how well it works there. But they wont because it would show that their whole ideology is one big lie, and their lives are a lie also. I have to resort to the picture once again.

I know that makes it complicated, but it IS complicated, and doesn't fit on a bumper sticker.
.

How to Create a New World Order Socialist State
Another writer that has promoted the agenda of the New World Order is Saul Alinsky.

The following has been attributed to him, however, I have yet to find concrete evidence he actually wrote the words. Even though he may not have written the words, the actual plan is real. It was inspired by Alinsky and enumerated by Cloward and Piven.

There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist state.

  • Healthcare: Control health care and you control the people.
  • Poverty: Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
  • Debt: Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
  • Gun Control: Remove people’s ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
  • Welfare: Take control of every aspect of their lives, (food, housing, and income).
  • Education: Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.
  • Religion: Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools.
  • Class Warfare: Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Clintons and Obama the fk tried taking those guns and they still are using shadow Gov. control behind the scenes
Welfare he gave it out like candy
Education , making it so many aren't allowed to home school if they choose, and now making it so kids are FORCED TO LEARN about gays, trans, sexual acts, etc etc.

Religion oh the powers at hand had to make religion look horrible by pushing lies, and tons of news on shit that would help make people not like religion turn them into atheist ( they got you all good suckers) lol..

Class warfare, Cliton and Obama were working on taking the middle class out, if Clinton had won this is exactly where we were headed.

Early Christianity functioned and succeeded through total collective effort and help, managing to survive Roman and other hostility. But, who believes the Bible?
