As a liberal, I am in the Bill Maher camp about Islam. I think the left is in denial about the danger the significant number of Muslims in certain continents. Some of these radicals are not dangerous, but they like some republicans hold very bigoted beliefs about women and gay people. It's an undeniable part of the culture of this religion even if the majority of Muslims around the world are ultimately harmless.

However, what republicans don't seem to understand is that American Muslims specifically have proven themselves to be mostly harmless and hardly radical despite a few exceptions. Sure, there are surveys of American Muslims that show they hold bigoted beliefs, but this hardly makes them a threat.

What is definitely a terrorist threat in this country though is motivated by the rightwing ideology. I think the rightwing got a break when we FINALLY had an example of a leftwing terrorist in the Bernie supporter who shot the republican politician. However, rightwing terror is still a statistical certainty in comparison.
