QFT. The unity after 9/11 barely lasted the length of time it took the towers to fall. The GOP took 9/11 as a blank check to expand Federal Powers, invade Iraq, and expand military spending. The Left predictably opposed nearly everything the GOP wanted to do including expanding entitlements (Something Bush and the GOP absolutely did).

Now the DNC is in charge and they're the ones expanding Federal Powers, engaging in military operations, and expanding military spending on top of expanding entitlements and the GOP are the ones frantically fighting it. Ironic.
