While reading a serious and respected liberal British magazine this morning, I learned this word: incel. It is short for "involuntary celibate."
*****
Although it can technically refer to either gender, it usually refers to a male who is convinced that he is owed sex and is enraged by women who will not grant him his wish.
*****
The article says that the world's most "famous" incel was a 22-year-old man who in 2014 became so angry that he murdered six people and wounded more than a dozen in California.
*****
Being an old man who is computer illiterate, I cannot link. Sorry.
Title of article: "Does anyone have the right to sex?"
Author: Amia Srinivasan (teaches philosophy at University College London).
Publication: London Review of Books.
Date of print issue: March 22, 2018.
