(tidbit) Why do Cubans refer to the United States as "La Yuma"?

Bloomberg Businessweek (December 29, 2014) says that apparently in the 1950s, the Hollywood motion picture "3:10 to Yuma" was very popular in Cuba. (It was about a good guy guarding a bad guy until the train arrived to take away the bad guy. There was also a later remake.)

/----/ The remake was pretty good. I was too young and not allowed to watch the original, so I can't compare the two.
