Jordan intervened as part of the Arab League in an attempt to prevent the ethnic cleansing that the Jews were undertaking within the the Arab and International parts of the partition. The Jewish part of the partition was not invaded by the Arab League.
The only reason that the Bedouin still have a country is because, although Palestinians (3.5 million) can vote and have parliamentary representatives, the Jordanians have stealthy laws that limit the rights of non-Bedouins and prevent non-Bedouins from "taking over" electorally. Additionally, there are other discriminatory practices, only Bedouins serve in the military, for example, and veterans are afforded many rights and benefits that non-veterans do not get.
To top it off, with the large influx of people from Syria, which include hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, Jordan is maxed out. It is not an option.
