Support of the incapable is not the same as support/entitlement to the capable but unwilling...
As wards of the state, there are in essence dependents of society... also as persons in that state, they are not out in society as free persons.... I.E. those committed in mental institutions, persons in vegetative states without family, those severely retarded to the point where mental capacity makes them a danger to themselves and/or others, etc...
But why do you do those things? Just because it makes you feel good? Where does the nanny state end? First we take care of retarded people, next we have to take care of severely crippled people? Pregnant women most of the time can't fend for themselves, are you telling me that we have to feed, clothe and house them too?
Imagine if we actually had to support someone who got laid off with no unemployment insurance? Maybe we'd have to support them while they found a job. I mean, you start taking care of retarded people; propping up those who don't work, and you'll start seeing other people trying to ride the free money train too.
I can't believe you'd support this type of socialism. Are you a liberal?
