Attempting to stop the flow of illegals into the country without securing the border and without stopping the reason they are coming here is like attempting to bail the water out of you sinking boat while refusing to 1st fix the hole in the bottom of your boat. Eventually the 'water' is going to 'win', and you're going to lose your 'boat.
Placing tariffs on Mexico for facilitating the on-going illegal 'invasion' - as President Trump just did - is, again, another way of trying to come up with a way to stop the 'water' from pouring into your 'boat' without actually trying to repair the hole.
The biggest NON-Secret on how to end illegal immigration is
'STOP / END ANY AND ALL INCENITVES FOR COMING HERE TO BEGIN WITH.'
That means enforcing our laws. That means STOP the illegal hiring of illegal immigrants.

In the last 12 months 112,000 illegals were prosecuted for being in the country illegally while only 11 employers were prosecuted for illegally hiring illegals. Of those 11 employers prosecuted, only 3 served any time in jail.
Before you start attacking President Trump for such a small number, Presidents Obama and Bush both attempted to do the same thing and averaged 15 employers prosecuted per year.
So What's the problem - why aren't more being arrested / prosecuted?
"In most cases, it is difficult to prove that employers knowingly hired people who were not authorized to work in the United States. Most employers do not question documents submitted to them, and few states require them to use a government system to vet them."
-- In other words many companies CHOOSE to accept documentation given to them by illegals with the thought 'ignorance is bliss'. What I don't know can't / won't hurt me.
THE #1 WAY TO PUT AN END TO THIS IS MAKE IT MANDATORY FOR ALL COMPANIES / BUSINESSES TO USE E-VERIFY TO CONFIRM CITIZENSHIP!

Only FULLY ENFORCING existing law would solve the Illegal Immigration problem.
