And again as I keep noting --- traditionally the electorate balances in a midterm. Almost always in fact. Possibly because the more one party is in power, the more its flaws are prominently exposed. The Republican Party was supposed to be moribund after FDR arrived. And not long before that they were supposed to be dead after placing a distant third in 1912. Next time the Presidency was open they won it with the biggest landslide ever in a contested election, and won the next two as well. As long as the Duopoly presents the illusion of two parties that are different entities rather than a single entity expressed in two colluding divisions, that illusion guarantees balance. That's how Duopoly perpetuates itself.
