The first - attacked and smeared - captures the usual behavior by submissive authoritarians in the face of opposition to their Dear Leader. That's neither new, nor hard to understand, just standard fare.
The last tries to capture the adulation of the Dear Leader, also the usual behavior by submissive authoritarians.
The middle one - support for Trump is cracking - would be the one that gives rise to some hope, but it stands in contrast to the other two. That raises a few questions, like, is it true? Is it the beginning of something, since Romney and Cheney do not amount to much of a crack? How to widen the crack? Looking around on here, I haven't seen one, not a single one, who saw the light, and changed to opposition to Trump, not on the occasion of the Mueller report, not after the Ukraine extortion was exposed, not after the myriad of instances of misbehavior even a half-ways decent human being would not tolerate. Rather, they are digging deeper, and losing the last shreds of their already paltry integrity in so doing.
And what a disheartening sight this all has been, like Jim, someone with a capable mind, transforming himself into a completely shameless sycophant. He still has a few bright moments, such as his scolding someone who would try to denigrate President Obama by calling him a "Muslim", but these are dwindling towards non-existence.
