I have read the U.S. Constitution, thank you. The U.S. Congress is responsible to the people of this nation, period. Our laws and policies are determined by the U.S. Congress, period. I am NOT talking about each individual "state" legislative body, rather I'm speaking of the government body, mentioned in the U.S. CONSTITUTION that governs this once great nation. Each member of the U.S. Congress is responsible to this nation as a whole, period. We elect representatives to represent US in Washington, and we also elect representatives to represent US on a state level. State legislative bodies govern states, and U.S. representatives govern this nation as a whole. Please go back and read your copy of the U.S. Constitution.Do you need to read the Constitution?FYI - "The People" do NOT want what we're seeing and experiencing. The U.S. Congress does NOT represent the American people, period. I have no idea what world or bubble you're living in, or what fairy tales you've been reading, but we are NOT doing good, not in the least. We've been forced to lower our standard of living, we have many millions receiving some form of government assistance, our jobs consist mainly of low-wage, part-time, and temporary employment, we have unaffordable health care, unfair and unequal taxation, senseless deadly costly wars, poverty, homelessness, a rundown infrastructure, illegal immigration issues, polluted rivers, lakes, streams, oceans, and the air we breath, we have less home ownership, cities going bankrupt, troubled pension funds, mistreatment of our Vets, an astronomical and rising national debt, a judicial system of injustices, loss of privacy, a rising cost of higher education, import dependency, and the largest prison population in the known world.Every US Congress person is a representative. For the most part, they are doing exactly what their constituents want them to do, or they would not be re-elected to the tune of 95% of the time.....Congress has failed the American people for many decades now. Congress is bought and paid for by the wealthy, the powerful, and the influential. Congress is guilty of dereliction of duty through many administrations, both Republican and Democrat. Congress is controlled by Lobbyists, which represents special interests. We have not had a representative U.S. Congress since the 50's.Has congress done anything that will make our country better since Republicans took over?
All told, Congress has sent 21 bills to the president for his signature in the 79 legislative days when either one or both chambers has been in session (another 105 days of work are scheduled for the rest of the year).
Eight of those bills could be considered major actions: reauthorizing the Terrorism Risk Insurance program, approving the Keystone pipeline (despite the president's veto), funding the Department of Homeland Security, permanently fixing Medicare repayments, preventing veteran suicides, establishing a police attack "blue alert" system, aiding victims of trafficking and instituting congressional review for an Iran nuclear deal.

The question should be, "what has Congress done, accomplished, to the benefit of all American citizens?" In other words, what can be attributed to Congress as far as directly benefitting this nation and her citizens, and making us a better nation and a more prosperous people? The truth is, we've been sold out by the very ones that we've entrusted with our well-being.
BTW...lobbyists and special interests are ordinary citizens (who have pooled their resources) petitioning the government for redress of grievances.....a defined right in the Bill of Rights...
So, tell me all the good things that our U.S. Congress is doing, or has done, for us and this once great nation. Please, list all the good things for me, if you don't mind. I'd really like to see your list of Congressional accomplishments over the past half century or so. And, please don't leave out the wars and loss of the Middle Class of society. Thanks in advance for your response.
A US Congress person is a "Representative" of a Congressional district. He or she does NOT have to care one fuck what the people of this country want, only what the people of her or his district want.
Lets start with that and see if you improve afterward.
FYI - "The People" want, and expect, fair, equal, and just representation by those they elect to serve in Congress, both on a national level, and on a state level. District representatives have a responsibility to represent the best interest of EVERYONE affected by their actions, whether that be on a state or on a national level.
