Armed police called to shooting in area hit by violent gangland feud

Armed officers were scrambled to Bootle after the latest shooting in an area hit by a violent gangland spat.

Police were called to reports a gunshot was heard on Antonio Street at around 11.30pm, with investigators later discovering evidence of a shooting.

The incident is the latest in a series of shootings across South Sefton this year and came less than a week after a man was shot twice in a targeted attack on a nearby street.

Police cordoned off Antonio Street as they searched for evidence of the shooting, later finding proof that confirmed the initial fears of those in the area.

Nobody is believed to have been injured and no damage was found.
