How did GMO labeling get defeated?

This defied all logic and predictions.

Both parties (bought and owned by Monsanto) obviously rigged that vote.

Monsanto, Kraft, Pepsi, and Coke all put huge funding into the ballot and outspent the supporters 2 to 1 putting out ads mostly saying it would increase prices and give unreliable info (both pretty false) and also that the law would put Oregon into it's own special category for labeling food products and some companies won't want to sell there anymore (might possibly be some truth in that one...)

The reality is that the big food companies don't want it to become common public knowledge what actually goes into their products.
