How come there are over 40,000 christian denominations and more invented daily

Religion preaches morality and virtue? Umm... no. Religions dump on homos and women, to name just two groups. They've tortured people, burnt them at the stake, beheaded them... there's even a holy war going on in the Middle East right now...
The Bible teaches morality.
Do you hate it because it says your homosexual practices are wrong? What is driving you to deny Christ yet I see no posts from you on this website concerning Buddha, Hinduism or Islam.
"If a man also lieth with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13)

Prostitution is punished by burning the woman alive according to Leviticus 21:9

So you live by the moral standard that says gays and prostitutes should be killed?

Dear Weatherman2020 are you addressing Mudda
If so it's likely because more Christians believe in rebuke using either Bible for church issues ot Constitutional laws and process for state issues, while followers of other faiths don't tend to take on public duty as Christians or other ppl do who are acting as govt to reform policy. More Christians tend to be more proactive vocal and public while other faiths remain more private. Because of faith in seeking agreement in truth by correction and rebuke.
This thread is about a world wide issue. Christians are the majority in America so they promote their point of view. Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists have plenty of nation where they are the majority and they to promote their views in those societies.

But atheists on attack Judeo-Christian beliefs. And they do it for one reason and one reason only.
It is the one true religion.

I'd say more specifically it is that Christian faith and teachings call for believers to forgive and reconcile after trespasses. So that in these interactions, this leads to resolving conflicts in the spirit of truth and justice to bring peace. Which is part of the process Christianity serves to bring about salvation of humanity by Christ Jesus or Restorative Justice. Note: when Buddhists or Muslims are persecuted but they answer in that same spirit of Christ, the same process happens because it is universal. Christianity teaches this openly as its core, but all people of all faiths are still part of the process indirectly of establishing truth through agreement in Christ or by Conscience to heal relations by divine Grace and forgiveness to set humanity free from the karmic cycle of sin and suffering which is broken by Jesus or divine Justice with Mercy.

Dear Mudda the OT teaches retribution justice and karma. The NT teaches restorative justice that breaks the cycle of sin or karmic conditions by rising above.
So you are right the Bible teaches both so we have a choice: either repeat history and keep dishing out and getting it back as a black eye.
Or removing the beam or bias from our eyes so we can see clearly to help our neighbor remove their splinters in their eyes. We help each other, as you are trying to help here.

As for eye for an eye, historically, it used to be that ppl killed off entire families as retribution for one murder but this law is about limiting punishment to one for one. We still practice collective punishment as you do by judging groups of people as if that is one thing. But the law says to hold each individual to account for their own words and actions. In that we stand a better chance of corrections than whole groups going to war without communicating what is the grievance they were trying to address. This one on one approach is better more effective than blind attacks don't you agree Mudda that this is more effective than religious wars? That it's better to talk one on one and change minds that way with reason correction and understanding between us?

You and Christians are both going after getting the bugs out of the system. Instead of spraying each other, and wasting resources on that, you'd do better working out a unified strategy to focus on the bugs you're both after: fear based false teachings that cause mass deception division destruction. You have a common goal to use truth to bring justice. So keep working to agree on truth, and justice is done in the process. Not fighting against each other but fighting on the same side for sake of what's true and just. The better we can correct injustice and expose falsehoods by working together not falling apart in division.

"fear based false teachings that cause mass deception division destruction", that would be almost all religions, if not all, including the Big 3.

Yes Mudda I get your point, though I believe the strengths and weaknesses on both sides check and balance each other.

With faith in truth and justice unseen, this gives us courage to push for that even though there's no proof we will gather there. That is the power of faith.

With reason and secular discernment comes the logic and objective approach needed to prove or disprove points so agreement can be reached.
We can't prove anything if the conclusion is already assumed by faith, not unless we are doing a contrapositive proof and showing all the counterexamples and objections are false.

In this case with you Mudda I think we are using the contrapositive approach. Any objections you or W offers, there is a rebuttal. So this will continue until either you answer all possible objections, or you deadlock and it ends in a tie.

What theory can be demonstrated by that outcome is
* the more you forgive and accept each other the closer you come to reconciling your differences that still won't change your core beliefs
* the more you reject and don't forgive each other's differences the higher rate or chance of failing to find common ways to communicate the same points you both want to make

So either way, succeed or fail, you end up demonstrating the OT path of retributive justice, that focuses on judgment punishment and rejection, vs the NT path of Restorative Justice that focuses on forgiveness correction by mutual respect and inclusion not rejection.

And shows which one works more effectively to clarify truth and why!

Forgiveness and paying the consequences for ones actions are distinctly seperate issues. One can forgive someone for robbing them, but they are still going to prison.
Mercy is what says you deserve to go to prison but I will not send you there.
And mercy is what Jesus gave us.

A woman pleaded to the King for mercy for her son who had done such wrong the law called for his death. The King asked why should he, since the son deserved it? The mother answered that's why she's begging for mercy because if he didn't deserve it she'd be begging for justice.

No, non-believers are just trying to help cure you of your delusions. That you are here is a good sign, you're questioning those delusions.
Why are you terrified to tell us why you feel the desire to "cure" people from believing in Christ?
What did I lose when I accepted Christ into my life?
Your critical thinking.
What critical thinking would that be that I miss? All those who knew me BC say I'm a much better person.
That's possible, even being a Jesus freak is better than how some humans act. :D

True critical analysis of the bible and all the rest would lead one to possibly like the philosophy behind the "lessons" of the bible, but would never take any of that as fact, including the certainty of there being an invisible superbeing who wants us to obey and worship it. It just doesn't stand up to real, critical thinking.

No, the bible teaches "an eye for an eye". Please try again.
The eye for an eye metaphor is simply brilliant.
Human nature is to take a life because an eye was taken (hit them back twice as hard). God says keep things in equal perspective.
So much for forgiveness then. Yours is the god of equal revenge.
Forgiveness and paying the consequences for ones actions are distinctly seperate issues. One can forgive someone for robbing them, but they are still going to prison.
Mercy is what says you deserve to go to prison but I will not send you there.
And mercy is what Jesus gave us.
So you can beat the shit out of someone in retaliation, and then forgive them? Or is it the other way around?

Emily, that's a really dumb story, even for you. :D
