Both demand compliance to group think.
Both change direction in the middle of a sentence.
Both worship their leaders.
Both demand tithing to support the church.
Both believe in forcing their belief/will on others.
Both write songs about their glory.
Both lay claim to an omnipotent.

Am I missing something?

Politics usually has an actual physical being as it's focus.

Religion, at least the main stream ones, have to use their imaginations.

Religion is about a fake god/etc
Politics is for the community organization/etc

"Government" isn't an actual being.....But it is the God of the left, so the OP's point stands.

Much of that which we jokingly refer to as "science" has most, of not all, of those same characteristics.

hmmmmm.......

I have to drive for a few hours....BBL.

In the meantime, familiarize yourself with what a "nominalization" is....

Politicians and religious leaders both want my mind and my money. I see no differences.

They can both go to hell.

That's not entirely true- what they're for and what they do are the same- they both group people into different classes for a purpose- the lip service they use is slightly different in the rhetoric, but, not a lot.

Both lay claim to something they rely on others to provide- *a* difference is the tithing. Religions tithing is voluntary, political tithing is forced- both ignore the sovereignty of the Individual and demand compliance to the dogma of the group- both have ceremonies to prove allegiance- both offer a reward for compliance- neither can prove the rewards exists- both claim its way is the only way to salvation when, in fact, their way has been failing for centuries- *a* difference is the definition of salvation- one claims immediate one claims future- both are "claims" paid lip service to to encourage faith- faith in another never leads to the expected reward.

I don't know why I'm surprised by that......

Science? LOL- science has nothing to do with it- embarrassing yourself in public is not very flattering.
