House Democrats Want Texas Governor Rick Perry To Explain His Refusal To Expand Medicaid

--------------------------------------------------------------
Something as important as health care for Texas citizens should not be tossed around like a political football by Gov. Rick Perry in his state that has an almost 25% uninsured rate. It would not cost the state as some may mistakenly believe until around 2020 and then just a minimum amount. This fine report brings out the fact that providing Medicaid would actually increase jobs in Texas to the tune of almost 60,000 and would provide MEGA-BILLIONS of dollars to the state from the Federal government so why the hesitation with all of those advantages? Would Gov. Perry prefer the needy just attack hospitals right and left and then let the citizens pick up the tab instead?

But this can only show most people in Texas that their governor Does Not Care One Iota About Them. So, suffer if you will appears to be the current attitude! You're being thrown under the bus by this 2016 presidential hopeful. That's despicable and no doubt that will not help him to win the Republican nomination at all in 2016 as he would like. People are taking notice, Gov. Perry. They are and it's the very ones in your state who need that help the most. Do the right thing. How about a change of heart for your own folks at home, Rick?

Why don't they simply ask the leader of there own party right up the street at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

Legislators know Medicaid desperately needs to be modernized for the 21st century, and even President Obama argued the case during the debate over ObamaCare. “It is not sufficient for us simply to add more people to Medicare or Medicaid to increase the rolls, to increase coverage in the absence of cost controls and reform,” Mr. Obama said, adding that “another way of putting it is we can’t simply put more people into a broken system that doesn’t work.”[1]

It's gross federal overreach. Hell, even another branch of the federal government agreed with that (SCOTUS). Why in the world would someone who opposes the Feds overstepping their boundaries actually collaborate with them when they do? I know I'm proud of Texas for refusing to get sucked into administrating another federal boondoggle.

As it has turned out, Perry was not only wise but prescient since Texas has been flooded with illegals.

Hard to think of Perry as wise. I live in Texas and know what a bumbling goober he is. Putting on a pair of glasses and taking off his cowboy boots won't give him a single IQ point, and he desperately needs a few more points.

The same reason as other republican governors: political spite, a partisan attack of the ACA, where residents of these states are denied access to affordable healthcare for no other reason than the president belonging to the 'wrong' political party.

The same promises they made about pensions.

Hows that working out for everyone?

I hope Perry told them to go to hell and get back to worrying over football team names

Maybe the citizens of Texas, like the citizens of Colorado, don't want Big Daddy Government forcing things down their throats. Have you ever considered that possibility or do you automatically believe you and the Dem elitists know what's best for everyone. One-size-fits-all medical care may be peachy for you but it isn't for the majority of the rest of us.
