Hottest June on record and the hottest 6 months on record..Noaa!
Global Analysis - June 2015 National Centers for Environmental Information NCEI
The combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces for June 2015 was the highest for June in the 136-year period of record, at 0.88°C (1.58°F) above the 20th century average of 15.5°C (59.9°F), surpassing the previous record set just one year ago by 0.12°C (0.22°F). This was also the fourth highest monthly departure from average for any month on record. The two highest monthly departures from average occurred earlier this year in February and March, both at 0.90°C (1.62°F) above the 20th century average for their respective months, while January 2007 had the third highest, at 0.89°C (1.60°F) above its monthly average.

June 2015 also marks the fourth month this year that has broken its monthly temperature record, along with February, March, and May. The other months of 2015 were not far behind: January was second warmest for its respective month and April was third warmest. These six warm months combined with the previous six months (four of which were also record warm) to make the period July 2014–June 2015 the warmest 12-month period in the 136-year period of record, surpassing the previous record set just last month (June 2014–May 2015). As shown in the table below, the 10 warmest 12-month periods have all been marked in the past 10 months.

The first six months of 2015 comprised the warmest such period on record across the world's land and ocean surfaces, at 0.85°C (1.53°F) above the 20th century average, surpassing the previous record set in 2010 by 0.09°C (0.16°F). It should be noted that 2010 was the last year with El Niño conditions; however El Niño had ended by this point in 2010, while it appears to be continuing to mature at the same point in 2015.
The average global sea surface temperature of +0.65°C (+1.17°F) for the year-to-date was the highest for January–June in the 136-year period of record, surpassing the previous record of 2010 by 0.04°C (0.07°F). The average land surface temperature of +1.40°C (2.52°F) was also record high, surpassing the previous record of 2007 by 0.13°C (0.23°F).

Pretty fucking Amazing I'd say.

So you are amazed... And yet you have ANOTHER thread right below this one in the same forum tracking El Nino.. What exactly does this "down the page" explanation mean to you?

Also is clear that the surface temperature seems to be "departing" from it's general agreement with the Satellite data. Better send a repair crew up to orbit and see what the hell is going on.. :disbelief:

In the 1860s, physicist John Tyndall recognized the Earth's natural greenhouse effect and suggested that slight changes in the atmospheric composition could bring about climatic variations. In 1896, a seminal paper by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius first speculated that changes in the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could substantially alter the surface temperature through the greenhouse effect.
In 1901 herr Koch's experiment was done and to today never been debunked.

That's pretty harsh. UAH dropped its figures and is more in line with RSS but is still higher and with a higher trend.

Only the Zealots argue about 3/100 of a degree diff in the trend lines.. Until Hadley comes around and horses that 3/100th into 6/100th and declares it settled..

Expect RSS to come under attack as much as UAH.. It's a BIG bus and they'll both fit nicely UNDER it..

Skeptics have already decided that they need to win the debate WITHOUT the pause. But now the Warmers are more concerned about "the pause" than the skeptics are..

Are you kidding?!?!? The Pause is all you people have had for the last 17 years. And now the Pause is dead. The whole thing was just a freakin' anomaly from the get go. Brilliant. So, now what've you got?

I don't think Spencer or Mears are frauds. They do have some obvious problems with their algorithms not working well. It is possible to not agree without caling someone a fraud, and insta-shouting "fraud!" is the hallmark of a conspiracy cultist.

Given how complicated those algorithms are, no wonder. In comparison. the surface temperature algorithms are a model of simplicity and straightforwardness, which is why surface temperature is universally acknowledged as being much more accurate. There's no Monte Carlo analysis necessary for surface temperature data. There is for satellite data, which shows just how complicated those algorithms are.

What a load of codswallop!

Muller stated that close to 1/3 of all long running surface station trends were negative. After chopping up the numbers and splicing them back together to 'meet expectations' there are no negative trends left.

Satellite data may be highly processed but they don't revise individual areas up or down to meet expectations like the surface based products. BEST and the like decide what the global and regional results should be, and then make sure the individual stations match up. That is why they stare blankly and say it doesn't matter when outsiders point out blatant mistakes like Iceland. To them individual stations really don't matter, the global result is key.

Karl15 is just the most recent example of how algorithms and methodologies have been changed to give the desired result. Any of thousands of ways to produce a global 'temp' are defendable. What bothers me is how it is constantly changing just to give a more politically pleasing result.

Unsupported conspiracy theory.

More unsupported conspiracy theory.

Even more unsupported conspiracy theory. It just never ends.

Yes Ian, I know you sincerely believe your conspiracy nonsense. So do the birthers and 9/11 truthers. And they can also point to fringe websites that reveal TheRealTruth that the evildoers are trying to cover up.

REALLY?? The "pause is dead"???? What WAS the decadal temperature rate of climb during "the pause"? And how do you get from there to 4 or 8 degC by 2100???

Really would HOPE you'd specifically answer those questions? What did your IPCC say the decadal temperature rate was in THEIR last report??

"The pause is dead" Same kind of crowd that shouts "Death to America" in Iran...

I've said a dozen times, I don't rely on the past 18 years as a skeptic. And I've recommended that others don't either..

The IPCC did not have these data when they wrote and released AR5. It - and an great deal of follow-on work - will make it into AR6.

To be clear, AR5 lead author is on record that AGW is to redistribute wealth. Further, AR5 states that 90% of the imaginary warming is absorbed by the oceans and there's absolutely no explanation how a 120ppm increase in CO2 can release that much energy
