Personally, I'm okay with LWOP in most cases, except the most egregious ones.
Prison sucks, but it beats the hell out of having violent offenders out on the streets so they can continue to create victims.
Actually, Jarvis Masters is a strong argument for the death penalty. Someone has to guard dangerous offenders. The death penalty culls these dangerous offenders from the herd and alleviates the need for someone to risk his life to guard them from each other.
