The only “foreign” help we needed were referred to as “big boy” and “little boy”. The nuclear bombs we dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima would have had the same results in Berlin and Munich - total surrender.
Again, have to wonder where you learned history from. Germany and Italy were already defeated by the time we bombed helpless Japanese civilians with terror weapons. But it was really the entry of the USSR into the Pacific War that forced Japanese surrender.
You see, funny thing happened, right after the USSR entered, the US suddenly dropped it's demand that the Emperor be deposed. Not something you do from a position of strength.
Not to mention that this isn’t 1945. Our capabilities are even more remarkable.
Um, no, they really aren't. We couldn't subdue two third world countries. after spending 2.4 Trillion on the war on an emotional state. By comparison, our spending in WWII was $350 Billion or 4 Trillion in today's dollars over a four year period. The thing was, we only won world war II because we did all the things you kind of hate- High Taxation on the rich, government control of key industries, you know, pretty much the closest to Socialism this country has ever gotten.
On one hand, you whine incessantly that we spend more on our military than the next 10 nations combined. On the other hand, you attempt to make the argument that we are impotent without allies.
those two statements aren't contradictory. We WASTE a lot of money on the Military industrial complex. We buy ships the Navy doesn't want and planes that can't fly in the rain.
A single copy of an F-35 costs 122 Million a copy, and the whole program will cost 1.5 Trillion over the next few decades. And we've barely used it in combat and really has no practical use.
the Hilarious thing is that as much as you get on here and whine about the government, the things you actually whine about could be honestly said about how the DoD wastes money.
