Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State is "My Last Public Position"

Every "sitting" president.
How often is the party leadership so dissatisfied with the de facto leader of the party that they would pit another candidate vs the sitting President?

Umm, in 1964 LBJ was the incumbent president. and the de facto leader of the dem party
Thanks for the answer. I could do without the smug/childish "umm".

I might respond to you with more respect if you didn't post inanities about how the party pits a candidate against the sitting president. I bet you don't even realize why that's complete nonsense

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has once more reiterated that she will not run for president in 2012, going so far as to refer to her current role in government as "my last public position."

At a town hall meeting appearance in Manama, Bahrain on Friday, Clinton denied intentions to run for either president or vice president on the ticket with President Obama, who defeated her in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary. Some experts have also speculated that she could replace Robert Gates next year when he retires as secretary of defense.

"I think I will serve as secretary of state as my last public position," she said. Clinton's career has included not only her current position as secretary of state, but also eight years in the Senate representing New York.

As controversial as Hillary has been in my life and yours, I think it is a mistake for her to walk away from Government Service. She is a force to be reckoned with, and is not done yet.

I'll believe it when she writes her memoirs, has a library built in her name and begins her speech tour.
Until then i am convinced Mrs Rodham Rodham wants the White House.
Absolutely!!!!!

Whatta LEGACY; from helping to run-Nixon-OUTTA-THE-WHITEHOUSE...to THE PRESIDENCY!!!!

"I think" = Famous last words.

I like her much better then her husband, but cant stand either of them. I would not want her back in government in any position.

That being said, i would vote her over obama any day of the week.

I can't believe people even think Obama will have a democratic challenger or that he won't pick Joe Biden to run again with him.
There is a n unwritten rule that the sitting President is never challenged for nomination should he seek re-election.
I think it would be the ultimate slap in the nuts for a democrat to challenge Obama. However, as much as Obama is unpopular, it would come as no surprise if Obama is asked by the DNC to not seek the nomination.
Yeah....right.....that's gonna happen....after a....

RECORD-BREAKING PRESIDENCY.....ALREADY!!!!

I don't buy it. She is playing it. Shes got to be coaxed and seen as the rescuer of the dem party if they need her in 12, if f she always keeps the door open she'll be seen as the same old hill, if she plays it like hey they asked me, begged me I said it was over for me buuuut....she will perhaps, piss off less people, ala die hard obama sppters who would accuse her of submarining the you know what.

you can bet those super delegates and the big money that wanted her before they bowed to pressure for you know who, are planning right this minute on how to make their case with the wind at their back if the economy is still in the shitter and its hung around Obamas neck.

So, you see the Slick Willie Effect there.....
There's nothing in that article about The PRO$PEROU$ '90s.

:eusa_eh:

That wasn't the reference. If anyone could sell a good part of the Country their own socks while they were already wearing them, Willie could. Fun to watch when there is nothing at stake. ;)
Well.....PRESENTLY Daddy Bush's economic-debacle looks like nothing (compared to Lil' Dumbya's)....but, back-then, it was pretty-damned-significant.

Hmmmm...

Maybe Hillary is going to do a Soros sponsored LBO of the U.S. and take it private.

So.... she'll have to go through airport security like everyone else?

I think that she is ill and keeping it private right now. This truly will be her last public position, I believe.
