Avatar you have obviously have not read anything the founders have done/said if you don't think that they thought women were chattel! Back in the 1600s women were tricked to come to the colonies by the boat load where they would be "sold" off as wives for tobacco on the docks, it was extremely close to being a slave. Women couldn't vote or own property. There were tought to always support what their husband thought, and be very obedient to their husbands.
Read Washingtons book of Etique sometimes. You need to learn more about the Founders role in the American enlightenment.
