You live a lie. A lie that is the promised lie of equality that can never truly be realized because there is no such thing as equality. You know if you take all the GDP of the United States, which is by far the wealthiest nation per person, and redistribute it to every single LEGAL American you would only get 43,000 dollars per person and then the country would immediately collapse right after redistribution because that 43,000 dollars would immediately become worthless.
The fact is there will always be the rich and there will always be the poor and every single attempt to alleviate that in history has ended in financial collapse. Every test run in the 1900s in small settings ended either when disasters had struck and there was no extra money to cover the disaster or the desire for better quality of life and freedom of choice for those talented enough to go elsewhere to get it left.
The fact is it will never work and the desire for it will always end in the self destruction as it is impossible to deliver. Sadly it is the real world we live in where the survival of the fittest will always occur in the end. We can try to avoid it all we want but at the end of the day it will just result in the suffering and slowing of our societal growth to try and reach only to result in continued failure and collapse. The only true decision that can be made is do you think there should be a ruling class that chooses who gets stuff and how much stuff each class gets or if you believe in allowing a free market with a minimal ruling class to decide the haves and have nots?
The only true thing we can hope for is having a place where the failed individuals in our society can have shelter and food and a place to try and re-launch their lives in hopes for better results. To give anything more will always end in failure for society as a whole.
