Having lost the GOP the House over repealing Medicaid expansion, Trump plans a redueax for 2020

Get rid of Medicaid. Let people pay for their own health care. Why should we tax payers get stuck paying for them??

I sure ain't interested in footing the bill for someone who can't or won't take care of themselves.

If this was about the economy and security, he couldn't lose this election

Congress already rejected block grants when the GOP’s ObamaCare repeal bill failed in 2017. Allowing states to impose those same changes by statutory waiver would be extremely controversial and have widespread implications about the use of executive power
Trump poised to kick off election-year fight over Medicaid
Entitlements do need to be fixed or the Debt will destroy the US as we know it
About 3/4 of the Federal Budget is "Mandatory Spending" aka "entitlements" and interest on the Debt.
Medicare will be bankrupt in 2026 (google "medicare fixes" to see how to fix it)
Social Security will be bankrupt in 2037 (google "social security fixes" to see how to fix it)
Medicaid is "charity" we need to weed out the undeserving
Welfare is "charity" we need to weed out the undeserving
Interest on the Debt is mandatory, and growing out of control

2019 Federal Budget
Mandatory spending $2.74T
Social Security $878b
Medicare $625b
Medicaid $412b
Welfare $462b
Interest on the Debt $363b

Trump didn't have 48 senators to support cutting Medicaid, and since then even Utah and Idaho have expanded Medicaid.

But he never had a real chief of staff or cadre of experienced administrators.
