Rural Democrats differ with Barack Obama

Angered by White House decisions on everything from greenhouse gases to car dealerships, congressional Democrats from rural districts are threatening to revolt against parts of President Barack Obama’s ambitious first-year agenda.


“They don’t get rural America,” said Rep. Dennis Cardoza, a Democrat who represents California’s agriculture-rich Central Valley. “They form their views of the world in large cities.”


Cardoza’s critique was aimed at Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency

, but it echoes complaints rural-district Democrats have about a number of Obama administration decisions.


“I wouldn’t say it’s a complete strikeout, but they’ve just got a few more bases to it when it comes to the rural community,” said Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.


A rural revolt could hamper the administration’s ability to pass climate change and health care legislation before the August recess.

I'll need to check with a few of my neighbors and see if they go over this "$500,000." cap the White House is proposing. I do not think they gross that much in a year. It would sure knock out many banker/investor types from receiving government farm payments. The giants pig farms that dot the country will be adversely affected. Probably many large dairies and large feed lots also. Bottom line is the local politicians won't get their support in the upcoming elections if they don't try to protect what these large corporate operations get from the taxpayer.

Everytime I see your "location", I remember the campaign ad that Obama ran, attempting to emphasize that he was from "the heart of America" and understood the concerns of the "common" people. Dayum.... And people really believed that bullshit too! Need any further proof that he doesn't get it?

I look at the history locally here and Chicago does not hit me as a place I'd wanna get my leader from but hey people did vote him in.

If you recall, the ad I referred to focused on his Kansas background, as if HE grew up there. God... People are so damned gullible....

Actually I think their choices have been very limited. So it is not just a gullible nature. Money and power have pushed this political realm for over a hundred years. It is just getting to the point where people are sick of having the ideals that we are supposed to have these freedoms being born here yet we don't really having any when pure capitalist have manipulated and taken over the government at every level to stay in power.

It is just getting to the point where people are sick of having the ideals that we are supposed to have these freedoms being born here yet we don't really having any when pure capitalist have manipulated and taken over the government at every level to stay in power.

Back in the early days of the campaign season and the primaries, several of my posting "colleagues" and I asked "Is this the best America has to offer?" The first problem would seem to be that "the best" show little interest in politics, and who can really blame them? Then there's the other problem -- if a decent candidate isn't in one of the Big Two, they're doomed to failure. The majority are convinced that it's "wasting" a vote to pull the lever outside Col. 1 or 2, and unless something changes the minds of the majority, they're going to keep the choices limited.
