It figures...
Millennials Are Painfully Clueless About Health Insurance
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania gathered 30 adults between the ages of 19 to 30. They were all college educated and interested in signing up for health insurance. Then the researchers sat the participants down in front of a computer and watched as they attempted to enroll through HealthCare.gov.
The results were less than heartening.
Half of the participants didn’t know what a “deductible” is. Three quarters couldn’t define “coinsurance.” They also were unaware that subsidies exist to help pay for insurance. When they tried to guess the price of an affordable plan, they offered a number that was far below the actual cost of a bare bones policy. In short, if the group were given a collective grade on their understanding of health insurance, an “F” would be the only reasonable option.
