Guide To The Liberal Mind

Conservatism means in a nutshell never shifting your position.

I wonder how many teabaggers would agree with this statement by President Eisenhower: "Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Eisenhower underestimated the rich and powerful and he underestimated how dumb the American people could be. He also didn't know the media would be taken over by the rich or that Citizens United would be passed.

Basically it was a different world back then. Conservatives weren't crazy or extreme. The GOP has moved so far to the right its crazy.

Citizen's United wasn't passed, the 1st Amendment was passed.
Citizen's United was the case where the 1st Amendment was upheld.

Workers are kept hungry and in fear of their jobs. Salaries are now stagnant even though our nations wealth is increasing
Time to stop blaming the workers

Sounds to me like it's time to stop being a "worker" and exercise your freedom to do anything you please in the nation which provides you more economic freedom and opportunity than anywhere on the planet.

If being a worker is such an awful deal, why be one? Be an entrepreneur instead. Find what it is you have a passion for and devote yourself to that. People do it every day in this country, some people come to this country just so they can do that. Rather than sitting around complaining about how bad it sucks to be a "worker" stop being one.... be something else!

Same old GOP platitudes that ignore the economic realities of a society vs a single worker

Yes, a single worker may be able to quit and start a business, but 100 million workers can't

Why is Conservative economic theory so lame?

Bull Shit!!!

The right stayed where they are, maybe drifting left a bit over the years, but the left has gone so far left that they need to either indoctrinate college students to keep their numbers up or bring in new poverty stricken foreign voters to maintain a majority.

There is no platitude there, it's simply what kind of system we have in America as opposed to what Eastern Europeans had when the claptrap you're regurgitating about "workers" and "class" was formulated.

100 million workers wouldn't have to. I suspect if any company out there lost about 30% of it's workforce, the conditions and wages would change. People might not all want to become entrepreneurs, it's hard work.

You are still residing in an economic fairyland

There are not 100 million new businesses out there to be had, there are not 30 million and there are not even 5 million

How many successful new businesses were started last year? And that is what you base your economic recovery on?

And there is not 100 million who would want to go out and start their own business either. Some of them enjoy being workers. I never have. Since I was about 25, I have been an entrepreneur and not a worker.

I don't live in an economic fairyland. I live in America, where free enterprise and free market capitalism exists, and people aren't confined to being "workers" or a "class." Those are conditions which existed in European dynasties when Marx formulated his socialist policies which you are now regurgitating. You see, we have a different system here, and it's a great one. It allows you the freedom to not be a worker or in any class, you can make your dreams come true.

Again you merge micro and macro economics to come up with a solution to stagnant wages. A path that may exist for a limited number of workers is not a solution to the the economic hardships of all workers

It's not the responsibility of "the rich" or anyone else to pay for functions in any society. It's up to society to determine which functions they will collectively fund through taxes and it's up to individuals to fund their own desired functions. No one owes you a damn thing. You're not entitled to something because you think your shit doesn't stink.

How can the rich make money in a choatic and unstable society? (Hint: They can't)

The rich need a functional, civilized society to make the money they get. That costs money. It's the cost of doing business and they aren't paying it.

NPR was interviewing a millionaire that admitted the rich do understand they can't have all the money, which they do right now. They get that. What they don't agree with us on is how we go about redistributing that wealth. They don't like taxes or giving workers raises or profit sharing.

But then again, the rich might have caused the great recession and the great depression on purpose. They like the boom and bust years. Buy low sell high. As a society we want stability but the investor class decided to risk our 401K's on the stock market and how did that work out for us? Worked out great for them though.

And the rich need to pay a little more than what they might consider to be "fair" because we as a society decided long ago that the poor shouldn't have to pay taxes. How are they going to get out of poverty when you take away from their $5 hr job? Greedy fuckers. LOL.

I've been saying that for years. There can only be so many doctors, judges, business owners, ceo's, etc. The fact is, 80 or 75 or even 51% of us at least will end up being middle class or poor worker bees. So what about the worker bees? Who besides unions speaks for us?

Oh, and remember if Romney were president right now, the USMB republicans would be saying the economy was doing great and if you don't like it go back to school or start a business. Keep that in mind. Rick Snyder Gov Michigan is taking credit for Obama's hard work as we speak. Meanwhile the national republicans are pretending Obama did not save the economy. They won't give him any credit for anything. Yea, it was all Snyder. Even though we can't point to one thing he's done that added jobs. But the GM bailout sure did work.

Sure they are. Our corporate tax rates are the highest in the free world. The people who aren't paying anything, who have no skin in the game, are the freeloaders who are getting government benefits.

You are right about one thing, though... the rich have absolutely no use for a shitty economy where people don't have money to spend. They would much rather see a robust and growing economy where people have lots of money to buy their stuff.

There, you were simply born into a class... the working class, and that's where you remained all your life. You see, that's why you're having to paint that picture here and brainwash people into believing they can't do anything about their situation.

That's the problem. They understand conceptually that they can't have all the money. Yet they don't want to do it on their own. That's where the government can come in and put a stop to it.

The first thing they need to do is outlaw CEO salaries being tied to stock performance. That creates this enormous, unsustainable wealth gap. I would be fine with up to 20% of their salary being tied to stock performance but when it's the entire thing, they stop looking at their workers as people and then just see them as costs. They get rid of the employees which creates unemployment and the shitty economy we are in.

They get rid of employees because of the shitty economy, not the other way around. Why the fuck would companies fire people if they needed them? Is thinking really that hard?

Ahh.. when Liberals start posting cartoons and memes, you know the argument is over.

Sweet smell of torched liberal ass is in the air!

I think the first thing we need to do is outlaw liberal stupidity.

If I own a company, who I hire as CEO and what I pay them is none of your goddamn business.
