Government Gone Wild: Special Interests Exposed

thx Chanel.

Its madness. and be sure, that this is replicated on the sate level as well.

example-

-education workers. Hiring has far outpaced the growth in student enrollment, driving down the number of students per teacher in American public schools to 15.6 in 2010 from 26.9 in 1955, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Robust hiring has continued even during periods of enrollment declines, including from 1971 through 1984, when the number of public-school students fell virtually every year, declining in total by 15%, while the ranks of teachers grew by 7%.

-Local districts have also bulked up on other workers—from instructional aides to administrative personnel to social workers and counselors. In 1955, teachers constituted about 65% of local education workers; today, despite years of rapid gains in teacher ranks, they amount to only about 40% of the eight million local education workers.

If I recall correctly, French labor force participation that owes its job to a state authority is north of 43%.

And I can tell you with absolute certainty; last year when Obama froze federal pay? The depts inside the Federal agencies apparently subject to that, took it upon themselves to re-task money so as to provide pay increases anyway.

I think that is the Dems whole goal.
If Obama gets Re-Elected it will go way over 50%, he and the socialists can maybe get it to 64% in four more years.
Then we are no longer, we will be Kaputz.

never ever raise the pay of government employees.

You may actually get people who can perform their jobs.

Now realize we have MAJOR infrastructure problems that need hiring real professionals to plan and execute the rebuilding of this countrys infrastructure.

Then also realise HOW MANY of these government employees are military.

Pretending that all these people vote in locked step is complete insanity

Just because someone works for the government means they should never be laid off?

(And I don't mean Military).

T, I don't think they should be laid off, but their salary should be equal to the same job in the private sector. Matter of fact, most of the government jobs BELONG in the private sector.

I'll need much more info, as in the devil is in the details info to make an informed opinion on this. Too generalized, besides I simply don't trust agenda driven political organizations, even the ones I support.

I am of the mind that since the private sector (in the process of being systematically destroyed) is dialing back...the Government should be doing the very same thing. The constant as it pertains to Government should be the Military with an increase in thier ranks rather than gutting it. Gutting the military only invites aggression.

That is my point.

Most government jobs (excluding the military) are unnecessary, and I will agree with you that they DO belong in the private sector.

I'd like to see alot of departments consoldated, and the dead wood that would result from such consoldation of overlapping government functions eliminated...and forced into the private sector.

Trajan - as you may know, I am a high school teacher. I can tell you with absolute certainty, that most of those education positions are mandated by law. Special education classrooms may not have more than 9 students per room without an instructional aide. Inclusion classes must have two certified teachers per room. We have instructional aides whose only job is to PUSH students in wheelchairs who refuse to wheel themselves. It's outrageous and expensive, but IT IS THE LAW. This is how "government creates jobs".

No one dares to question special education costs in this country, because who would dare to cut spending for "HANDICAPPED CHILDREN"? Teachers are taxpayers too, and they are the only ones who truly understand the waste in public education. I can't tell you how many times I've heard a colleague say, "No money? Give ME a red pen!" But no one has the cajones to say that to the people who hold purse strings. It would be pointless.

It's not about their pay TM
It's about the size and rapid growth of our Federal Government in Washington DC, and has nothing to do with the military.

Socialists do vote in lock step because of their collective mentality instead of individualism.

The guy in the video is talking about special interests and congress.
He was talking about the people who work in the Department of Defense in Washington, not about the number of our military soldiers.
