GOP left Obama no choice but to act on immigration

Republicans in Congress are using all their available power to obstruct legislation
Obama is using all of his available power to bypass Republican obstruction

Looks like a power struggle to me

It is complete and utter left wing whacko bullshit that Congress is the obstructionist when even the NYT has noted that Harry Reid is the problem. He's working only for the President to the dismay of many Democrat members of the Senate who are becoming very vocal about it.

Really?

What has Harry Reid done that is obstructionist?
In the eyes of the leftwing nuts....nothing.:eusa_whistle:

Obama is waiting pen in hand waiting for Congress to send its immigration reform bill

This Executive Order is only temporary

If he would agree to secure the border he might get his bill passed.

We're way past "might". The Republicans have shown themselves to not keep their word about working with the president.

Let them make public guarantees.

That's a two way street, Synth.
Obama has shown not to budge in regards to negotiating with the repubs.

Very true

Reids biggest problem is that he is weak. He has allowed a Republican minority to gridlock the Senate

I seem to remember him extending the Bush Tax Cuts

Also negotiating the income threshold for the new tax rates

When you're the leader of the Senate and won't let bills from the House come to the floor of the Senate...YOU'RE THE VERY DEFINITION OF THE WORD "OBSTRUCTIONIST"!!! Harry Reid has DOZENS of House bills sitting on his desk gathering dust because he doesn't want his fellow Democrats to be on record voting against them.

Your "selective" memory is amusing stuff, Winger! It shows how far you're willing to go to protect progressive politicians like Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

Which of those Republican bills had the 60 Senate votes that Democratic bills need to reach the Senate floor?

Republicans have insisted on a 60 vote threshold. Why shouldn't it apply to Republican bills?

Kindly explain how not even allowing DOZENS of House bills to come to the floor for discussion isn't obstructing the legislative process, Winger! Harry Reid has been doing this ever since the Democrats lost the House in 2010. That's 3 YEARS of blatant obstructionism that you refuse to admit has taken place.

It's FARCE for liberals to accuse the GOP of leading a "do nothing" Congress when the legislative process has been brought to a complete standstill by Harry Reid's tactics. Bring those bills to the floor for debate. If you don't like what's in them...then offer a compromise bill. That's the way it SHOULD work. If we had a President that was a REAL leader it would be the way that it DOES work. Instead we have Barack Obama...who's content with running out the clock while the country suffers because he doesn't want to compromise like Reagan did...like Clinton did...like Bush did!

After watching the liberals during the eight years of Bush, I never thought I would see this day

just shocking and sickening

As a minority, Republicans have established 60 votes as the requirement for a bill to reach the Senate floor.

None of the Republican bills have more than 45 votes

Now, if the Republicans agree to stop obstructing and allow Democratic bills to reach the floor with less than 60 votes, I'm sure Reid would do the same

Are Republicans willing to put away their filibuster?

Opinion: GOP left Obama no choice on immigration - CNN.com

This week, the country witnessed one of the most irresponsible acts that we have seen from this Republican Congress, since they deliberately shut down the government less than a year ago. Republican House Speaker John Boehner informed President Barack Obama that he would not bring a vote on immigration reform to the floor this year.

Whatever excuse Speaker Boehner has for abdicating his responsibility as a national leader, it is not good enough, and he has now given the President ample excuse to act on his own. Which he is now doing. Maria Cardona Maria Cardona

Since Republicans in Congress refuse to do their job and allow a vote on comprehensive immigration reform this year, Obama, on behalf of the American people, is acting on his own to address this important issue -- for the well-being of our country, our economy and the immigrant community that has contributed so much to our economic growth and prosperity and is suffering greatly from a badly broken system.

Just because the Rs refuse to do their job, it does not follow that the president should as well. If the Rs don't like the president's actions, they have a funny way of showing it.

Really, there's just no excuse for their all out attack on the US govt.

Every time we have passed an amnesty bill, it's led to more illegals coming into this country. No Obama does an end run around congress and passes the Dream Act as an Executive Order and people are "surprised" at the number of illegal children coming into this country!

Tell me again what you call someone who does the same thing over and over again and expects different results?

Obama should pay for this mess out of his own pocket.

Let's see if we get this straight. Reid, who has the position of power, who has already gone nuclear and eliminated the filibuster for certain presidential appointments, and who controls what bills get debated and which ones get shelved permanently, cannot do anything because the minority party has his hands tied behind his back? I mean, I know Republicans are awesome, powerful creatures, but I didn't know they were able to bring Reid to his knees through the arching of an eyebrow.

Do you support Republicans requiring 60 votes for a measure to reach the floor or not?

Winger...you are SO full of shit! This has ZERO to do with what Republicans are requiring! Harry Reid has been blocking House bills from coming to the floor of the Senate for over 3 YEARS! The Democrats lost control of the House in 2010 and this was their "solution" to that defeat...they simply won't allow House GOP sponsored legislation to come to the floor of the Senate. It's the epitome of obstructionism...and to do so while attacking the Republicans for being obstructionists is laughable. Harry Reid has done this to protect Democrats from being on the record for voting for or against GOP sponsored bills. It's partisan politics at it's worst.

Indeed, Reid is a puppet for Obama's agenda. He will obstruct so there isn't any negotiating and allow Obama's EO's AND play politics with the media belittling the repubs as a do nothing party. Of course, the media lacky's eat that crap up.

You are ducking a simple question

Do you think Republican Bills should need 60 votes to reach the Senate floor?

Harry Reid's refusal to bring House bills to the floor of the Senate for debate is blatant obstructionism...and yet you come here and accuse the GOP of obstructionism. Explain why it is that Reid won't even allow debate on dozens of House bills, Winger! You can't...can you! You know only too well that it's obstruction of our legislative process and that it's been going on ever since the Democrats lost the House.

The Obama White House won't talk to the GOP led House and Harry Reid won't allow House bills to come to the floor of the Senate...but it's the Republicans that are "supposedly" obstructing government? The truth is...you liberals got your fannies paddled in the 2010 mid-terms because the electorate wasn't happy with the direction that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi were taking the country. Rather than accept that however, you guys decided that you'd simply isolate the House...refuse to let their bills come to the Senate...and get your buddies in the Main Stream Media to go along with your narrative that it was the GOP that wouldn't work with Barack Obama. So we've had THAT going on for the past three years.
