The Republican National Committee’s health insurance plan covers elective abortion – a procedure their platform calls “a fundamental assault on innocent human life.” Federal Election Commission Records show the RNC purchases its insurance from Cigna. Two sales agents for the company said that the RNC’s policy covers elective abortion. Informed of the coverage, RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho told POLITICO that the policy
pre-dates the tenure of current RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

“The current policy has been in effect since 1991, and we are taking steps to address the issue,” Gitcho said.

A spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee – the campaign arm for the House Republicans – said it does not include coverage for elective abortions in its employee insurance policy.

Translation: We've been "murdering babies" for 18 years before you guys caught our hypocrisy.

Larry King: So why did you pay for your wife's abortion, Rep. Barr?
Bob Barr: We have a joint checking account - why does it matter who signs the check?

That's how seriously they take abortion.

NOPE! No hypocrisy here. Is this the GOP version of "don't ask/dont' tell"?

Republicans use abortion as a wedge issue to derail the heathcare reform debate and fill their pocketbooks with cash from the Relgious right.
When a Republican needs an abortion, they go to Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver
to lessen the odds that they'll be discovered. Besides, it's a privacy issue - right?

"Is this the GOP version of "don't ask/dont' tell"?"

LOL.!

It's just proof that you guys have been lying all along when you claimed that Republicans as a group want to force women to have babies (those horrible little monsters).

Abortion within the party is as hotly debated as it is outside the party. And never has it been a part of the "Republican" agenda to force anyone to carry a baby that puts the mother's life at risk.

Well, they do. Just not THEIR women, apparently. Talk about hypocrisy....

Oh sure NOW that the media found out they've been murdering babies for 18 years. Did they end it because it was wrong, or because the media found out?

After what 18 years of coverage? They have requested it be dropped, but are you sure it has been done yet? Laws/policies might be in place about coverage changes in mid policy term.

You would think that the GOP would find another insurer since the premiums they and their employees are paying are funding abortions elsewhere for other Cigna enrollees.

Basically...the GOP is still funding abortions.

Delicious.

only after getting caught with their pants down. I think the statistics of just how many babies were murdered would be interesting to the GOPs base though.

However, if hypocrisy is considered a pre-existing condition, the GOP is screwed as they will not be able to get new health insurance....
