God's Sovereignty

Love how the christians continue to support their loving god despite his mass murdering ways! Obviously this loving god isn't a very persuasive god, having to resort to killing babies, his "peoples" relatives and pretty much everyboy to make a point?
Will he come to the aid of Israel? Don't bet on it. If he so loved his Israeli favourites he would not have had them suffer the ills they have endured.
Just wonder if the Aborigine god will come back and reclaim Australia for his folk? And the Red Indian god, will he come back and reclaim the US for the tribes? What about the Maori god? The Picts god?, the Celts god? etc.
Why is the only pretendy imaginary god you believe in the Israeli god? Because be honest, just like all the other pretendy imaginary gods he has done jack chit to protect his people!
As to your god murdering all those babies, all those Israelis and pretty much everybody else...I don't really think he did it. Pretendy imaginary gods do not do anything.
It is remarkable that the christian gawds are some kick ass MoFo's. When they're not busy wiping most of humanity From the planet, they're out looking for a street fight.

They're like a bunch of swaggering teenagers who just guzzled their first six pack of beer.

How many are you today Hollie? Are you one or are you LEGION?

Steven_R, Have you ever looked at a woman with lust in your heart? Then you are also guilty of adultery. Jimmy Swaggart confessed his sins and repented of them (turned away - is no longer committing adultery) and his sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. He's forgiven. His sins have been cast into the sea of forgetfulness - never to be remembered by the LORD again. If the LORD has forgiven those sins, then the matter is settled.

At the same point we judge others we are guilty of the same sin according to the Word of God - but there is good news - Jesus Christ paid for our sins on the cross at Calvary and if we are willing to answer the calling of the Holy Spirit to repent of our sins and come to the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved. (and forgiven) It's all good news, Steven.

When the Holy Spirit is dealing with our hearts - that is the time to respond and agree with the LORD that we are lost without Him and that we need the salvation He offers. Today is the day of salvation. Jesus came not to condemn us to but to offer us eternal life through His own death and shed blood at the cross and resurrection on the 3rd day. What great love Jesus Christ has demonstrated towards us - even while we were yet lost sinners.

Many times, many many many times.

It wasn't a question of God's forgiveness or whether or not the Almighty let the matter slide. His confession should have been between Swaggart and God. Instead, he made a show. Appropriately time tears, catch statement we could all remember later, big lead in with a sermon, and afterwards it was all good. It was a choreographed confession to make sure he wasn't going to lose his money stream, the same way Jim and Tammy Faye did when they got caught living the good life on the parishioners' dime.

I'm fine with a sinner asking God for forgiveness. I'm less fine when a preacher type does it with a script.

I've decided to return to writing - because there continues to be new people coming to USMB and not all have heard the Good News! The message today is something the LORD gave me this morning about the purpose of Israel's rejection. Fresh manna from heaven! I thank Jesus!

Beginning In Romans 11: 11 It is written:

I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness?
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
For if the casting away of them be of the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy, and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

-Romans 11:11-16

What a blessing that is to read this morning. This is confirmed in the Gospel of John in Chapter 4 verse 22 where Jesus told the woman at the well, Salvation is of the Jews.

Now addressing God's sovereignty I would like to quote these scriptures to you to consider and meditate upon today:

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect, For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, in ISAAC SHALL THY SEED BE CALLED.
That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of promise are counted for the seed. For this is the word of promise, AT THIS TIME WILL I COME, AND SARAH SHALL HAVE A SON. And not only this: but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father, Isaac: (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth) It was said unto her, THE ELDER SHALL SERVE THE YOUNGER.
As it is written, JACOB HAVE I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HAVE HATED. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses,
I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I WILL HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION, ON WHOM I WILL HAVE COMPASSION.
So, then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that show mercy.
-Romans 10:6-15

And again it is written in the verse that follows:

For the scripture saith to Pharoah, EVEN FOR THIS SAME PURPOSE HAVE I RAISED THEE UP, THAT I MIGHT SHEW MY POWER IN THEE, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE DECLARED THROUGHOUT ALL THE EARTH. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy and whom he will he hardeneth.
-Romans 10:16,17,18

This is the Sovereignty of God. This is the Great Sovereignty of God! To God be the Glory.

I am speaking from the Islamic perspective.

Neither Jesus nor those with him were powerful kings or men of authority who would be able to preserve and protect the sayings of Jesus. Whatever the historical relevance, as Christians claim, those so called proofs may simply be falsications and forgeries. There is no way one can seriously believe the Bible to be authentic to this day.

Muslims believe the Bible to be a book full of forgeries, falsifications and intentional corrections to the real sayings of Jesus. The Qur'an, the book of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) is authentic to this very day, the same than the Muslims read in the 7th century. This is because God sent Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) as the last of all 124 000 prophets and declared that the Qur'an would be preserved and protected.

God is obvious and His greatness is obvious; not only obvious, but extremely obvious.

I'm glad you are fine with someone asking forgiveness, Steven. As Jimmy Swaggart wanted to ask forgiveness also from the people - as he felt he had let them down - I believe the public apology was fine also. I agree with you that no apology should be rehearsed as if it were a choreographed confession but I do not believe that is what he was doing. Only God knows his heart and I believe he has been forgiven and the matter is under the Blood of Jesus Christ now. Also - thanks for answering the question - honestly - above.

God is everywhere. His greatness is obvious, most obvious, extremely obvious. There is nothing hidden about it.

Whoever is willing to have an open mind and eyes opened sees the Glory of God. How great His Glory and how obvious His Glory. It is not hidden.

Gallup Poll Indicates Americans Only Hear About Jesus 48 Times a Day

Recent poll results indicate that Americans are only exposed 48 times a day to the Christian message that God loves them, but if they don’t love Him back, He is going to burn them in Hell forever. "48 times a day is not nearly enough exposure," Christian Conversion Specialist, Judy O'Christian argues. "We need to hit these libruls with the message of Jesus' Love, and tell them He'll send them to hell if they don't convert, at least once every ten minutes! If you don't do it constantly, sometimes for hours at a time, they'll start believing silly stories about "science," and so-called, "logic." God wants us to convict these sinners 24/7!"

You know what convinces me their is not only a God, but, that His Son is the path to Salvation?

The way even the mention of the Lord or his Word drives assholes batshit crazy.

It is good to see you this morning, Roadrunner. Your comment caused me to be reminded of some scriptures in 2 Corinthians. This is what the Word of God says about how the Word of God effects those who are perishing and also those who are being saved:

It is written:

For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? - 2 Corinthians 2:15,16,

And in the King James Version it is written:

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient in these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God, but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
- 2 Corinthians 2:15,16,17

This means that those in Christ speaking in Christ's Authority - the written Word of God - to those being saved - we are a sweet fragrance - such as the Rose of Sharon - which is how Christ is described - a sweet beautiful fragrance - but to those who are perishing - this is how it is - the Believer as they preach the pure word of God - are as the aroma of death to the perishing - in other words - it is so repugnant to the perishing that they are literally repelled as one who is repelled by the aroma of a dead body - the two could not be more different - one from the other. It is quite a stark picture of the effect those In Christ have upon the world - those who are not in Christ - but are perishing.

It is very important to note that the distinction is made in verse 17 that we are not as the many, which corrupt the word of God - in other words, false preachers, prosperity preachers, false teachers - will not have this effect because there is no power in the Gospel they preach. It is a false Gospel. It is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ preached that is preached with sincerity in the sight of God - that has such an effect upon the hearer - the reader - the person who is encountering the pure Word of God.
Yep. Definitely true.
