Giuliani Opposes Flat Tax

This is soooooooo NOT TRUE rsr! Taking the the 2% out ALONE with no other reforms, exaserbated the rest of the SS system. This does not rule it out, it just means that without other changes TOO, it does not work to save SS retirement for the overall public of varying ages.

And just one other thing you just might consider rsr, liberals are NOT "the enemy", (they are NOT Al Qaeda, they are not Hamas, they are not Nazis, they are not the Iranean Amedinejad), they are your fellow American citizens, your neighbors, your pastors in some cases, your doctors and lawyers and accountants and hairdressers.

They ARE fellow human beings.

Constantly looking for the worst, like your comment that Liberals were against the 2% in to private accounts because... PUT YOUR MEAN COMMENT ABOUT LIBERALS HERE instead of trying to understand the reasoning behind them being against it....like it would overall, hurt Americans and not help them, IF DONE ALONE, with no other reforms?

I think if you, and others on my side too, including myself, would start looking at others on this board as fellow Americans, instead of treating them like they are the "enemy" all the time, America could be on the road to "healing" this division that will eventually "break us" and bring us to our ruin, as with all other great empires, over time. :(

a country divided against oneself, can not stand...or there is a term something like this that bears a great deal of truth in it, imo, and I just want you to think about it, ok?

SS is a ripoff Care, designed to give the government more power

It has become a welfare program where people with "substance abuse iisues" now get a check

It is not mean to tell the truth about liberals - it is the truth

No, you disagree with the facts

The lowest tax bracket was 15% - Bush cut it to 10%

The libs want to repeal the tax cut - so it would go back to 15%

That is a 33% rate increase on the workers YOU CLAIM you care about

Same for the retired couple

Keep trying to lie and spin MM - that is all you can do

keep trying to enforce the sunset position that the republicans in congress wrote into the bill when they had all the power a "turn to the far left" on the part of Bill Richardson.... ignore the tax cuts and incentives he proposed for businesses.... run away from your silly assertions that richardson has moved to tghe far left.

keep running away from the fact that you have totally abandoned your supposed hardcore conservative philosophy for rudy-love.

keep waving that white flag.

i think property taxes are the most UNFAIR taxes out there!!!! year after year paying taxes on a property you bought only once! horrible! and they can take your home away!

I personally prefer the idea of property taxes since it cannot be hidden. As to multiple taxation, it isn't alone. Under the right conditions the income tax does it as well.

It's a watered down way for socialist liberals to keep property rights in limbo.

Just as the income tax is a watered down way to eliminate your right to privacy. Just as the income tax is a weekly intrusion of big .gov into your life. At least with a sales tax you choose to pay it. At least with a sales tax, everyone pays. Finally.

If you "buy" stock, is there a 'sales tax' on that...? If you buy an accountant's service, is there a sales tax on that too? If you "buy" a mechanic's service is that taxed?

How would a sales tax work with realestate purchases?

Is food taxed?

Actually rsr, he cut the first 10k of the the 15% tax bracket to a 10% rate.

I repeat, HE DID NOT cut the full 15% bracket's taxes to 10%, only the first $10,000 made....

and the 15% tax bracket, which is where most Americans lie from what I have read, was the ONLY tax bracket that DID NOT get a FULL tax bracket range reduction, all other higher tax brackets did.

I cannot answer your questions because currently it is only enacted in all fifty states and they are each unique.

According to the text of the Fairtax bill,

All new goods and services are taxed once, and only once, at the final point of sale. So, new cars, new houses, are taxed. Used goods are not taxed. So, if you buy any home other than new construction, it isn't taxed. As I understand it, a mechanics service is taxed. Food is taxed.

There is also a "prebate" where uncle sugar will give every citizen an amount that will negate any tax paid up to the poverty level.

www.fairtax.org is the front page.

This is the FAQ page.

Income Tax

The 2001 tax cuts called for a gradual lowering of the nation's tax brackets. A person who used to pay 15 percent of his income to the government, would pay 10 percent. The 28 percent bracket would go down to 25 percent, and the highest bracket, almost 40 percent, would drop down to 35 percent.

The amount of money families can subtract for the cost of raising children would also increase to $1,000. By enacting the cuts immediately, President Bush says a family of four that made $40,000 and paid $1,178 in 2002 would pay $45 with the new tax cut.
