Beyond proposing a new anti-sharia law, Gingrich's speech was pretty light on policy ideas. The main thrust seemed to be that the government isn't rhetorically blatant enough about the seriousness of creeping radical Islam. Hmmm... constantly invoking unseen foreign enemies to keep the populace on high-alert. I do seem to recall Mr. Orwell had some thoughts on that subject.

I have to wonder about the political courage of suggesting legislation prohibiting something that's never been done...

i think newt is getting desperate. although this whole meme seems to be the wedge issue du jour for the rightwingnuts. i figure it serves two purposes, the first being that it plays on the same lunatic ramblings of the people who are afraid of the 'muslim' anti-christ african socialist commie they think the president is.

and the second? i think it's their way of trying to tell the jewish voters... 'stick with us... they want you dead'.
