Georgia Legislature Drops Plans For ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill After Watching Indiana Implode

This is too funny, seems like they are running scared now.

Victory for sanity!!

Let nobody tell you that your voice doesn't matter. Nowhere is that more clear than in Georgia this week where the state’s Republican-majority legislature quietly killed their very own “religious freedom” bill after watching their fellow conservatives in Indiana go down in spectacular fashion for passing a similar law.

According to WXIA in Atlanta, the Georgia House Judiciary Committee cancelled a scheduled meeting meant to discuss the pending legislation. The bill is effectively tabled, with support dissolving at an almost hourly rate. Sensing shifting sands, the bill’s author, Republican Sen. Joshua McKoon frantically called on his fellow lawmakers to vote on the bill “as-is” as soon as possible before it was too late. So far, no one – left or right – has seemed eager to take him up on his offer.

Victory for the idiots.

Georgia may have its ridiculous 'religious freedom' bill if it wants to, although no one's religious freedom is 'in jeopardy,' provided the measure has a provision prohibiting discrimination of gay Americans concerning public accommodations.
Let a faggot go in the girls restroom with my daughter and it won't be discrimination he will have to worry about. You idiots are the problem with this country.

They are like the Romans who thought hiring Visigoth mercenaries into the army was a great idea.

Your fear of faggots does not a government policy make...

That flippant comment does not make sense, but OK.

Even if in fact made sense to you, that would mean you would have to address it with a cogent argument, Jake, which you have repeatedly proven time and again you cannot do. See your name calling above.
Your flippancy was slapped down; tough if you don't like it. Time and again, you have not made cogent arguments for your points. You generally let your emotions get in the way. The one time you kept your temper, you made an epic thread. So: try it again.

What about Muslim owned businesses? Shouldn't we allow them to discriminate in order to accomadate their religion?

Of course not.

Running a business is not a religious practice. It's a business practice that happens to be run by a person who may or may not be religious.

Because it's a business practice and not a religious practice, it must comply to laws regulating businesses.

It's not the right of the religious person to rewrite those laws and thus make his business a part of his religion;

it's up to the religious person to decide whether or not his religious beliefs can allow him to run a business lawfully.

Indiana vs. Georgia...

The difference between a State with the balls to uphold the rights of the 97% versus the chickenshits who are afraid to do so.

Other state and local governments outside IN are also contacting businesses inside IN and inviting them to move to a more tolerant state.
