GE Takes Big Stand Against Gun Industry

Good for GE. I mean, this is the free market at work, right? It's in their right to do this.

I totally agree.

GE can choose who they lend to.
A risk analysis can/should be involved in any loan decision.

The bank should, also, be allowed to decide whether or not to lend to porn producers or anything else they may disagree with.

Free Market = Free Market

period

Ummm..

I know several court cases and laws that disagree with you.

Let me know what you would think would happen if a Bank refused to loan to a person because they were gay, black, or a woman.

THIS GE?

General Electric Avoids Taxes By Keeping $108 Billion Overseas

Let's see, they need to protect their tax exemptions.

Obama has control over those exemptions.

Obama wants a stand against gun ownership.

108 billion or a small segment of the company....hmmmm..........which way do you think they will go?

Yeah, the very SAME CEO who laughed, along with his "buddy" when it was announced (by the Liar-in-Chief) that "shovel ready wasn't as shovel ready as we thought".

You know, that same "Commander-in-Thief" that claimed that Syria's use of chemical weapons would be crossing a "red line" that he suddenly has had to backtrack on - now that Syria has used chemical weapons on their own people.

it's also our right to stop buying their products. maybe they will use some of the money they are no longer lending to clean up the legacy of pcb pollution they have left across the region.

Wait a minute...

Where are all the usual leftbat suspects, who regularly snivel and mewl about excessive corporate influence in politics?

Anyone?

Beuler?
sniveling and mewling about abortion rights and gun control on other threads

Obama's good buddy, GE CEO Jeff Immelt has cut off lending to some gun shops.

I guess this is part of the executive branch gun control program.

General Electric Co. is quietly cutting off lending to gun shops, as the company rethinks its relationship to firearms amid the fallout from the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

This month, Glenn Duncan, owner of Duncan’s Outdoor Store in Bay City, Mich., said he received a letter from GE Capital Retail Bank in which the lender said it had made “the difficult decision” to stop providing financing services to his store. Other gun dealers have received similar notices. ...

GE Capital cuts off lending to gun shops - MarketWatch

it's nice to know they are setting an acceptable precident that lending institutions can make decisions on who they chose to lend to not on a financial viability bases but on a personal preference. had these types of decisions been allowed in the past by liberals we never would have had the whole subprime lending mess to the poor and minorities. it seems discrimination is just one more example of hypociscy on the part of liberals

The free market rears its ugly head!!!

lolol

you rightwing nuthouse inmates should be giving this a standing ovation. Let the market decide!!

funny thing is, there are a dozen other lenders waiting to step in and take advantage of GE's contribution to obama's agenda. this will not stop one gun from being produced or sold. more gun grabber failure

This isn't the market deciding.

If it were a market decision, then only if the gun company was causing GE to lose money would they be cancelling their cards.

Nope, this is anything but.

This is more like anyone refusing to do business with Planned Parenthood.

BTW, I hope they are not in California.. It is illegal to do this there. Just ask the woman who is being sued because she won't sell flowers for gay weddings.

boo hoo. You lose.

It's their decision. Just as it is the consumers decision whether or not to make any financial exchanges with them from their decision. On the other hand, if GE came out saying they would not help fund people's anti-depressants or other pharmies, the moon bats would be crying serious fucking foul here.
Before Congress, too, no less.

The type of company you are or the products you sell aren't a "protected class"

Yet you mouth breathers applauded when a gun manufacturer refused to sell to New York because of the State Gun legislation.

What the never-give-an-inch NRA gun nutters fail to realize is that they are turning more and more people against our gun rights - which worries us responsible gun owners. Refusing reasonable compromise is not a winning solution. Universal background checks is a winner for all concerned.
