Is Israel that afraid of Hamas that they have to shut down Hamas's ideas?

Ramallah (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) - Israeli soldiers Wednesday raided the offices of a Palestinian newspaper in the West Bank city of Ramallah, managers said, ordering them to stop printing publications by the Islamist movement Hamas.

"Officers informed us that Israel would not allow the printing and distribution of Falastin, Al-Resala, and Al-Istiqlal," three Hamas newspapers, Al-Ayyam's managers said in a statement.

Al-Ayyam has been printing the three papers since April, when a surprise reconciliation deal between Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and their rivals Fatah brought the Islamist group's publications back to West Bank newsstands.

BTW, I thought Ramallah was Palestinian controlled territory.

Uhh, Israel allows every press into the country. Yes, that includes the ones that are pro Palestinians.

Can't say the same for Gaza, which is why I don't believe a lot of the things that we hear about what's going on there.

That's because Hamas is designated to be a terrorist organization, including here in the US. If the US could raid an Al Queda based propaganda site, they would. Nothing illegal about it. It's part of the wider war on terrorism. Islamists recruit and send messages through these sites as well.

If the publications are subversive and incite violence towards Israel and the Israeli's then they should be shut down. It may be in Palestine but Israel is in control legally and can impose its wishes if it wants.

Try reading the Geneva conventions in regards to occupation.
