Reagan did not get us involved in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Why not? The same thing applies here.

There is no vital U.S. national interest in this conflict. Russia is not going to invade any NATO nation in Europe. We don’t need to weaken Russia as compared to the U.S. they are already weak.
