"Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser under President Trump, will not comply with a Senate Intelligence Committee subpoena for documents related to its probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, invoking the Fifth Amendment and his right against self-incrimination."

In his own words:

I wonder, where are those who believe one is guilty until proved innocent? You know, those who bleated lock her up in unision?

Flynn pleads the 5th and now his pals comments on those that plead the 5th.

There is nothing anyone can do that Trump hasn't at some point commented on. I mean the guys a gold mind of contradictions.

In a letter to the committee's chairman, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., says Flynn told investigators during an early 2016 security clearance review that a December 2015 trip to Moscow was "funded by U.S. companies." Cummings says the actual source of the funds was "the Russian media propaganda arm, RT."Cummings went on to ask the chairman, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, to subpoena the White House for documents about Flynn that Cummings says have been withheld from the committee.
Cummings' letter was released the same day Flynn declined to provide documents to the Senate intelligence committee, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
Late Monday, the chairman and ranking member of the Senate intelligence committee vowed they would "vigorously pursue" Flynn's testimony. While we recognize General Flynn’s constitutional right to invoke the Fifth Amendment," Sens. Richard Burr, R-N.C., and Mark Warner, D-Va., said in a joint statement, "we are disappointed he has chosen to disregard the Committee’s subpoena request for documents relevant and necessary to our investigation. This guy is a liar since day one. I wonder just how deep his connections are to the Russians and others countrys that we don't see eye to eye with. How much does it take to buy a General and how much does it take to buy secret information from him. He just might be a traitor bigger then the guy who gave secret into to the Russians and China. He needs to be investigated to the fullest extent and if guilty needs to be put in front of a firing squad. :FIREdevil:

Aw too bad, Flynn isn't going to play with the Senate. He doesn't need to, he is a private citizen and was during the time of interest.

If he committed any crime it is up to the FBI to investigate and question him, and serve a warrant for any of this property. You know, the lawful way of doing an investigation.

Congressional investigations should center on senior government officials, not private citizens. The legislative branch is not the judicial branch.

Carry on, A-holes.

The point is that both Trump and Flynn indicated pleading the 5th means you're guilty.

Both Trump and Flynn were wrong. There are many reasons why an innocent person would not want to testify. Taking the fifth is not an indication of guilt, nor should it be. Anyone who thinks it is proof of guilt is disqualified from being a member of a criminal trial jury. In fact, the judge is required by law to instruct the jury that taking the fifth can not be held against the defendant in any way.

In Carter v. Kentucky, 101 S. Ct. 1112 (1981), the Supreme Court held that a defendant had the right to a jury instruction that "the defendant is not compelled to testify and the fact that he does not cannot be used as an inference of guilt and should not prejudice him in any way."

FindLaw's United States Supreme Court case and opinions.

It is simply wrong to impute guilt to someone because he took advantage of the safeguards in the Constitution by refusing to testify. Both Trump and Flynn should have known this. It is also wrong for Trump's critics to assume that the appointment of an independent counsel or an investigation by the FBI proves that “there must be something there.” Far too many posters on USMB fall into that “assumption” trap.

Flynn taking the fifth does not prove he is guilty, although it does prove him to be somewhat of a hypocrite.

Congress investigates ASSHOLE; did you piss and moan about the dozen or so committee investigations on Benghazi or the E-Mail witch hunts hoping to find HRC culpable of a crime, and failed?
