It is silly, but understandable. Forever any Sheriff around here would tell you to kill an intruder should they break into your house, as dead men tell no secrets.

The Trial Lawyers get their rocks off suing average citizens for defending themselves.

If I am in a situation where I'm threatened with bodily harm or death and I think I can defuse the situation by firing a warning shot into the air first, why should I be subject to arrest for that?
