I keep thinking, if we start from the premise that a man is innocent before proving guilty, then it is a hard case for a prosecutor to pursue with the evidence so for mentioned by the media.
For instance, was this a hate crime. There are only two pieces of evidence we have for that. The first is a call to dispatchers in which the term being referenced to is a bit garle. The other is the "racially profiling" charge which has a logical basis in the fact that there has been burglaries by "Black males"
Neither of which adds up to a murder with racial hatred as a motif. The argument for a hate crime is tenuous at best.
How about the charge of a felony murder? Well, the problem now lies with the intent of Zimmerman and the witnesses. Even though Zimmerman may have pursued Trayvon with the dispatchers advising against it, that in itself is not a crime. Repeat, not a crime. The biggest problem is the question of why Zimmerman left his car in the first place. Even so, that does not constitue that Zimmerman sought to kill Trayvon. It is possible that Zimmerman only wanted to talk to Trayvon. This leaves the scuffle that Zimmerman claimed he and Trayvon got into. Unfortunately, If Zimmerman did not wish to confront Trayvon in a fight(which is suspect, but no evidence for or against) and Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, then self defense is possible.
