A day was lost in their convention in 2008 due to hurricane Gustavo. The convention was in Minneapolis and McCain pulled the plug in respect for the event of a damaging hurricane in the gulf at the time, with a call to aid for the victims. That was an outgrowth of the Katrina debacle, that no hurricane should ever go unobserved by the political classes, lest they be caught flat footed, and be thought uncaring.
