Mitch McConnell: 'We Are Committed to Helping the President Get Wall Funding'

Probably the most singularly pivotal issue that landed Trump in 'the Oval', was his campaign promise to bolster our National sovereignty with a big, beautiful border wall. Well I don't know what sort of 'back bone' infusion Mitch McConnell got recently (Lyndsey Ghaham as well) but it looks like this is a winning midterm issue for Conservatives to rally behind in these next 3 weeks! McConnell might as well be a rock star playing with Metallica, lol; He da Man!!!

This is for you my progressive / liberal Democratic X-Compatriots... :)

He renegotiated NAFTA, and there are some very serious and even subtle components in there which I am aware of as I have read through it (and it is extensively covered in Canada) that even Trump hasn't boasted about, but which are MAJOR wins for America.

Now the second component, as you stated; is his wall. If he puts that up in a referendum, he is going to increase votes substantially. I think it would be a very wise play for him to make it a referendum, specifically about the wall, but also more broadly about the tax decrease going away, the fight against China (FAR more popular than people realize, it really sets him apart from all Presidents since Nixon), getting rid of ICE, economic growth and other major issues.

He has to personalize it "YOUR taxes will go up, YOUR taxes will go to paying for more illegally immigrants, THOSE LEGAL immigrants in the country will continue to take a back seat, through no fault of their own as they went about it the right way, YOUR jobs are at risk with economic offshoring to China and other socialist shyteholes.

If he plays this correctly and directly in such a manner, he will expand and drive people to the polls.

As always 'shokedcanadian', you bring political savvy & insight to all of us. I'm not as well versed in geopolitics, by a long shot. I'm reminded of a truism that seems to have stood the test of politicking across the millenniums. The average citizen these days can't even tell you who the vice president is or the AG etc. Our ballot box turnout campaigns are, sadly, about as nuanced as a sledgehammer driving a needle. Elections are won on simple platitudes & expressed visions; just look the litany of campaign slogans.

I think it was Cato the Elder who talked about 'the pebble in the shoe', not the distant mountains to come that wore a Roman out. Along a parallel strain of thought, the constituency ultimately voting their 'pocketbook'. The compelling immediate issues in the grind of daily life drive voters. Visions to strive for & that make people feel special and fulfilled also drive election turnout; is it the strands in the fabric or an illusory idea and vision of the tapestry that matters...

I am reminded by that scene in Gladiator, giving the people a vision to rally behind. The Wall has come to represent, for many, a vision of America as it once was (in their minds eye), in their perception of its former glory and innocence (or perhaps their own).

LOL, I'm in no way equating Trump to Comitus in the movie... just the conceptual parallel.

If Trump gets a wall built in his first term he will be re-elected. If not he’s a one termer

Why does he need funding for the Mexico paid wall!?

In fairness, they HAVE paid for it in the USMCA in an around about way.

Now between 40-45% of all auto jobs in the Mexico must make $16 an hour. That is going to ensure more auto jobs to the U.S, thus more tax revenue for the U.S Treasury.

Also, Mexico is going to buy far more goods from the U.S and has opened up it's market and increased duty free shopping from the U.S.

Now I admit, I don't know nearly the detailed information about how the new agreement impacts Mexico as I do know how it impacts Canada; however, needless to say the auto concessions are massive.

Think of it more like a rental situation be it a house, truck etc. It's bought up front with an outlay of cash on the lenders part and is recouped over the subsequent years. Though obviously in this case it is used to discourage the lendee from making or sending their children on rape trains and through the perilous deserts with Cartel 'yotes' (known to be usurers, thieves and rapists).

Perhaps someone can come up with a much better corollary example to help 'Timmy' understand the economic concept of spending tens of billions of dollars on a wall and saving hundreds of billions on all the expenditures of not having to process, sustain and regulate the millions that would have come in illegally. This doesn't even touch on the mechanisms of economic growth that 'shockedcanadian' briefed us on above.

Pussies hiding behind walls.
Assuming you were not just being trite with a 'tongue in cheek' retort; I'll put forth the question of what exactly does 'sovereignty of a nation' mean? If there are irrelevant borders and no control of ingress & egress (not seen anywhere else in the word) what exactly defines or determines the confines of a country, nation or nation state? It's fine to subscribe to a one world utopia, but lets get back to the reality that our nation yet remains (despite your ilk's best subversion attempts) a sovereign representative republic adhering to Constitutionally established law.

Well most Americans want illegals out of the country.

I for one don't care how much that wall costs, they need to build it to keep illegals out of America. That will save 2 billion a year.

No more illegals. No more anchor babies with mom and all her relatives we support.

Build the damned wall.

Pussies hiding behind walls.

Look at all the “pussies hiding behind walls” in Wetbackville....they’re trying to keep wetbacks from invading their space...weird huh?

Most Americans do not.
Most Americans are not as ignorant, bigoted, and hateful as most conservatives.

We need a Constitutional Convention to change the Anchor baby law.
