FIGURES… SEIU Is Partner With Obama’s Conservation Youth Corps

Hey wait a minute!! You're saying these programs are VOLUNTARY?? No kids are forced to join them, to get jobs there?

Explain that to the OP.
After all of the turmoil that unions have been causing here and abroad, now is not the time to be exposing our children to their brand of ideology, whether it's voluntary or not.

If you want our kids protesting in the streets like they did yesterday in London, then you must want anarchy.

Really? This is what ya'll are going with? The Youth Conservation corp is going to lead to anarchy? The ODS has reached BIBLICAL proportions...

Notice? Seawhatever totally ignored the riots that took place in London.. yep her did.

Just what, exactly, is a "radical green agenda"? Clean air, clean water and independence from finite fossil fuel sources? Oh the inhumanity! Scary, scary agenda.
smiley-rolleyes010.gif

Hey dipshit.... none of us want dirty air and water!

What you greenie wienies want is for us to destroy our ablity to pay for all these pie in the sky things ya'll want to do. We cant just overnight decide we are going to not use fossil fuels w/o some sort of "vialble" alternative.
We will NEVER be able find that alternative if the rug (the economy) is pulled out from under us thru strict overreaching EPA regulations.

If you are so damn concerned about the planet.... hold your breath, turn off all your appliances, never start your car (wait, you will die from suffication - NM), oh... and plant a tree 1st.

:cuckoo:

You may not WANT dirty air and water, but without the regulations of the EPA, that is what you will get.

Why must everything be an EXTREME with "conservatives" (what exactly do they "conserve", these "conservatives")? We aren't going to be able to get off fossil fuels "immediately", but we aren't even taking BABY steps. I drive to work and pass SUV after gas guzzling SUV with ONE DRIVER in it. How many states don't have recycling programs? How many people don't "bother" to recycle? We are on an oil glut and there simply isn't enough to glut on anymore.

But by all means, ridicule the people that actually want to DO something about our dependence on oil and the pollution of our planet.

Oh, and thanks for the positive rep...imbecile.

OMG, we are ALL DOOMED without the EPA.

WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE.

We're all for giving the Youth of America skills they need for success while also serving their fellow man, but no more than 8 hours a day, a mandated 60 minute lunch break and 15 minute rest periods every two hours.

See, this is what the Right considers radical. In Conservatopia, these kids wouldn't be in Youthgo,

they'd be in the mines.

These people need to know their place!!!! The caviar isnt going to put itself on the boss's plate!!!

:cuckoo:

all well and good. but as history should already have taught you, but for regulations and civil suits, corporations don't really care what we want. but for unions demanding safe work environments and fair wages and hours, those things don't exist.

This fantasy that the marketplace will force corporations to behave nicely is absurd. and i'm not really interested in the "ooooh libs think corporations are evil" meme. They aren't evil... they're AMORAL and have no conscience. If they act in the public good, it is because they are forced to.

And just a note on the loony toons O/P... why do we give a rat's patoot what some rightwingnut blogger says?

That's not true. Many on the Right actively oppose measures to give us cleaner air and water.
Start with those who would abolish the EPA.

Cleaner air and water is relative.

We can spend $1 Trillion to reduce sulfur levels in Diesel Fuel to 0.01 ppm, rather than the latest arbitrary 10 ppm, but would anyone notice the difference?

Only the EPA, which would need to grow to enforce the new regulation.

Maybe you should get your head out of the sand.?
I don't need a kid of mine being indoctrinated by this bunch. But hey, feel free to send all yours.

Of course the left wants tyranny, that is why they push our children into the streets like in Wisconsin. That is why Van Jones, an admitted commie was there. That is why that fat assed Moore was there. They are trouble making idiots in the name of socialism.

Indoctrinated into what? Here, you might need this...

Uh oh, it's been recycled. Might be a SEIU conspiracy.

well that was deep.
carry on.

ROFLMAO...you are claiming that the Youth Conservation Corp is just a vehicle for the SEIU to indoctrinate children (into what, we don't know) and you expect DEPTH?
smiley-laughing021.gif
Into little socialist tools. The environmentalists are backed by the communist party. Lefties don't like it when their plans are outed. Too bad, idiots.

AGAIN,what EXACTLY is a LABOR UNION going to teach KIDS about CONSERVATION?

From their web site:

The BlueGreen Alliance is a national, strategic partnership between labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and quality of jobs in the green economy.

Launched in 2006 by the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club, this unique labor-environmental collaboration has grown to include the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), National Wildlife Federation (NWF), Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, United Auto Workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The Blue Green Alliance unites more than 14 million members and supporters in pursuit of good jobs, a clean environment and a green economy.

Uh oh...not just the SEIU, but the Steelworkers. Oh no!!!!
We all know what the steelworkers union did to the steel industry in this country. You just proved our point.

And you must want to return to the Industrial Revolution conditions of the late 19th early 20th century,

which makes you human garbage.
Yes, prosperity without socialist idiots trying to ruin this country. Supporting socialism makes you human sludge.

good grief,

Goodness, what a thoughtful and in-depth response that was. I'm just reeling from that deep and meaningful response.

So, what's so scary about the BlueGreen Alliance (with all those Utility, steel and auto workers)?
Socialism.

smiley-rolleyes010.gif

Yep. Scary indeed that people buy into this nonsense.

what exactly is a LABOR UNION going to TEACH our kids about conservation?

Perhaps you should look into the BlueGreen Alliance a little more before you start constructing the tinfoil hat.

Maybe you should get your head out of the sand.?
I don't need a kid of mine being indoctrinated by this bunch. But hey, feel free to send all yours.

Excellent thought, Stephanie. Make sure you tell your kid that it's just fine to through that trash and cig butts out the car window. No government's gonna control your kid's right to litter!!!!!

:eusa_eh:

Um, couldn't a parent teach their kid NOT to litter, regardless of whatever government may say, or, heaven forbid NOT say after conducting a 2 year $250,000 grant keeping a sociology professor at Harvard gainfully employed?

Wow, impressive!!

For $800 B.....

"the U.S. solar energy sector increased in value from $3.6 billion in 2009 to $6 billion in 2010"

:eusa_eh:

Maybe if we spent another $800 B we could get another $2.4 B return!!

BTW: still waiting to hear how many jobs were created.

So the whole 800 billion stimulus bill was supposed to be spent on 'green jobs'? Which of your mentally handicapped pals told you that?

Um.....Obama?

Examining Obama's Stimulus Package, Part 3: Green Jobs: The Green Life

Obama pointed out in his speech to Congress last week, “to truly transform our economy, protect our security, and save our planet from the ravages of climate change, we need to ultimately make clean, renewable energy the profitable kind of energy.” In addition to creating green jobs, the stimulus bill also provides $500 million “to prepare workers for careers in energy efficiency and renewable energy.”

Ok, so he only committed $500B instead of $800B.

Just to make you happy, I'll assume Obama is mentally handicapped, and meant $100 B.

Where are the jobs in the $2.4 B return on the investment?

Your link says 500 MILLION, not billion you retard.
