Well, it's my favorite.

But there are many excellent ones.

I also like the one about scientists escaping from a planet in a spaceship.

And the one with Rodney McDowell ending up as a critter in a zoo.

My favorite was when Burgess Meridith gets locked in a bank safe during a nuclear war. He is the last person left on earth and loves to read. He finds a library and then breaks his glasses and can't see.

All stories were cool and you guys have brought forth many that I forgot about! Kudos to you!

Wasn't there one where a racist against Jews wound up going back in time and winding up in a train heading to a concentration camp?

I think it may be Death's Head Revisited. It made a mark on me.

That is "Time Enough At Last" to which bodecea and I referred. :)

That was in the 1983 movie. Sadly, Vic Morrow (who played the racist) and two children were killed on the set during the filming of that segment.

Original Twilight Zone had some of the best ever stories and metaphors and homolies. And Serling himself was a man worthy of monuments. WWII combat veteran turned pacifist, his ideas and imaginings should be requird reading and viewing for every American.

My very favorite.

hmm that is not the one i saw.......it has poor cabin people in it......son was a miner...etc and so forth ..there were given 3 wishes

Sounds like a bad version of Monkey's Paw. There's a list of all the adaptations of the story here.

In the W.W. Jacobs short story, the son is wished alive again by the mother. There's a pounding at the door, and it's left to the imagination as to what's doing the pounding. The nature of it is never revealed, because the father uses the final wish to send it away again.

I think my favorite TZ is the lesser-known Shatner episode "Nick of Time", two newlyweds holding themselves hostage because of a penny fortune-telling machine.
