...in reading Antony Beevor's Ardennes 1944, it states:
the German soldier shows an aptitude for recovery from the most drastic wounds far above that of the American soldier
.....the difference as stated was the Americans were fed better--fat being a hindrance to surgery and fat delays healing
..anyone else know anything or read anything about this ?
 
The American obesity thing came much later. Our soldiers were not fat, they were healthy.

I doubt there is any scientifically valid data to support the quoted statement.
 
The OP is quite correct.

Fat people all think that it is your fault that they are fat. Blaming others for your problems has never been a path to healing.
