Fast Food Workers Going On Strike

You made many silly claims, I and others have pointed them out.
That's my point.
Now say American workers are like slaves, again.
That one never gets old.

What specific claim are you disputing. I never claimed American Workers are Slaves. However, i am claiming many American Businesses and Politicians are working hard to achieve that goal. And American Workers don't have to roll over and oblige. They have every right to fight for more for themselves and their families.

The specific claims I disputed all over this thread. Take a look.
They're all over the place.

So no specific claim to dispute. Cool. Think of a point to make and then get back to us.

American Workers should just be good well-behaved slaves like they are in Asia and South America. Why do they have to be so uppity and greedy? I mean, cheeseburgers are already costing us a whole $3.00 for God's sake. Next they'll probably go up to $4.00 or something crazy like that. Can't they just shut up and be obedient, and let us have our cheap cheeseburgers? What the hell's wrong with em? I hope they all get fired and we get good slaves to replace them. I ain't gonna pay too much for my dang cheeseburger.

I disputed several. I guess you were too lazy to respond.

I agree for the most part, but unfortunately you paint too rosy a picture. The current reality is, American Workers don't have too many looking out for them anymore. They have to fend for themselves. They're not all just 'lazy & greedy.' They're just trying to survive in an ever-increasingly hostile environment. Who's looking out for them? It has to be themselves.

They're not all just 'lazy & greedy.'

Where did he say they were?

Who's looking out for them?

You're kidding, right?
The state and federal bureaucracies that are dedicated to the protection of workers employ 10s of thousands and spend $10s of billions annually.

Well, they're doing a terrible job. American Workers have been getting the shit-end of the stick for many many years. It's time to reverse that awful trend. And btw, Businesses also receive Government protection.

Businesses also receive Government protection.

Against workers? Name 3.

If you're not too lazy. LOL!

Businesses lobby for protection and Government handouts all the time. Where you been? I'll settle for people like you just showing the same contempt when they do it. Just a little honesty and consistency. I'll take what i can get.

Show me.

I stand by what i said. Those Federal bureaucracies haven't done squat to help American Workers. However, i do think Businesses have done pretty well sucking on that Government teat. They seem to always be begging for those Government handouts. I've noticed many pious preachy so-called 'Capitalists' sure do like Socialism just fine when it's them benefiting from Government handouts. Many of em are very quick to ridicule and condemn others for being 'lazy' or being 'Socialists.' But they sure do enjoy nibbling on that Government teat themselves.

I stand by what i said.

Yes, you're very persistent in your errors.

Those Federal bureaucracies haven't done squat to help American Workers.

Government wasted hundreds of billions and got poor results? You're shitting me!

They seem to always be begging for those Government handouts.

Yeah, I'm against corporate handouts too.

So you don't have 3 examples for me?

shocked-to-find-gaming.jpg

Do you have a point? Why do you focus your contempt only on Workers? Businesses seem to be begging for Government handouts all the time. I just don't see the same hostile contempt being expressed by all you supposed 'Good Capitalists.'
Then you can name three of those handouts, right?

Unlikely they would need very much protection against workers. But they do lobby for protection and Government handouts quite often. So i just don't get the double standard. You approve of anything Business does, while at the same time hopping up on your high horse piously condemning Workers for merely fighting for scraps. However, i do think we agree on some aspects. Government's role in it should be very limited. It's between the Businesses and their workers. They should have to work it out.

But we're talking about the mean owners and the saintly workers.
Why are you trying to change the subject to businesses seeking protection from other businesses?

So i just don't get the double standard.

I don't get your claim that no one looks out for the workers. Govt regs protecting workers are 10s of thousands of pages long, with 10s of thousands of government workers spending 10s of billions of dollars, every year, to do what you claim no one is doing. It's silly.

You approve of anything Business does

And you're a lying liar who lies.

while at the same time hopping up on your high horse piously condemning Workers

Hey, the liar is lying again.

It's between the Businesses and their workers. They should have to work it out.

And they do, every day, despite your hyperventilating, hyperbole and lies.

Well, i can see this is going nowhere. So hey, enjoy your cheeseburger. Just hope one of those 'lazy greedy' Workers you despise so much, doesn't spit on it. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Bon appetit.

Run away, liar.

and what is with those cheeseburgers that are 90% Bread, 10% Beef? I got one of those once, I thought I got the wrong order!

Paying their greedy Workers too much. Can't afford the beef. It's all those dreaded Workers' fault. It always is. ;)

I rarely go to fast food joints (probably like most normal/intelligent people who know better), just compare how much beef u can buy at your grocer for the price of a whopper/any large burger deal. Hey, I will pay the 6.00 at Publix for a few pounds of beef and make four burgers my way! and I will add the onions/mushrooms, etc!!

Decent American workers do not abuse customers or their employers for any reason. Putting superfluous body products into food handling is against the law and a real bummer to tell the state or county microbiologist why you would encourage a person to put another person at risk in that way by fouling food on purpose for revenge.

Shame on you, Paulitician. Baaaaaaaad.

have any of you ever had a five guys burger? I haven't, then again, I am concerned of the side affects, kinda like what happened to the star of the Soprano's. (well, I am in that age group too! and I am not eating a 3000 calorie meal ever again)

No offense, but you're painting too rosy a picture. American Workers have been used & abused for many years. The desire for Slave Labor has been devastating for them. That wonderful Global Economy has been anything but wonderful to them. I just don't see too many looking out for them. They're on their own. Slimy Politicians and Businesses really have screwed them. They've been left behind. They only have themselves now. If they want more, they'll have to fight for it themselves. So i'm not gonna sit around ridiculing and bashing them for doing that. They have to do what they have to do.

What is this whole "Slave Labor" thing you keep ranting about, Paul? I pay every single employee. C'mon...

As for the "Global Economy" not being wonderful for American workers? As with most things in nature...you need to adapt to changing circumstances or you will not prosper. My guess is that if it were up to you whalers operating out of Nantucket would still be going out to hunt whales for their oil and their jobs protected from those insidious bastards that discovered oil in the ground? Or can you understand that whole industries rise and fall and work forces are made obsolete...and that it's a natural part of the process?

Right now we've got an information revolution taking place where digital is replacing the printed word...and video stores are going the way of the mammoth as people stream videos on line. I'm sorry but if you've been clerking at a Blockbuster you're as obsolete as whale oil. The one thing about capitalism is that it is brutally effective at "culling the herd".

American Workers really have been screwed the last couple of decades. The quest for Slave Labor has driven wages down significantly. I find it hard to fathom how anyone could deny that reality. Those who are choosing to ignore the reality, are only contributing to the possibility of a future Slave Revolt. The Slaves are becoming more & more restless. Make no mistake about that.

I really don't know who's been feeding you this "SLAVE" nonsense, Paul but you really need to step away from it and start posting something that's based in reality. Please tell me you're not a student somewhere getting this from a professor! It would break my heart if someone was paying what it costs to go to college these days and THIS is what they are teaching.

I would never encourage it. But the fact is, you want to shit on workers, some will decide to shit on your burger. Treating workers with respect and dignity, really does go a long way. Happy prosperous workers make for better workers. We all benefit in the long run.

Keep telling yourself everything's just great with American Workers. Whatever helps you sleep better.

Where did I ever say that things are "great" for American workers? We've got issues here. For starters...our available jobs don't match up well with the available work force. We live in an increasingly technical world and many of our workers don't have the skills to handle technically demanding jobs. The days when you could make $35 an hour turning a nut on an assembly line are GONE! There are machines that can do that now. You need to be able to fix that machine...program that machine...or design the the next generation of that machine if you want to find a job. So tell me, Paul...do you think the Rachel Jenteal's and Trayvon Martin's of the world availed themselves of the educational system we have in place here so that they were ready to go out there and get themselves a "good" job? Or do you think they were about to be part of the ever growing sub class with no marketable skills who rely on government handouts to survive?

THAT is your new "slave class"! People trapped in the Nanny State for life.
