Just one example of how rules and regulations discourage the hiring of new employees..

For example are you aware that PER OSHA "water closet" means a toilet facility maintained within a toilet room for the purpose of both defecation and urination and which is flushed with water.
Minimum number of Number of employees water closets
    1 to 15.................................................... 1
    16 to 35................................................... 2
    36 to 55................................................... 3
    56 to 80................................................... 4

OSHA requires if a business has 1 water closet for 15 workers
by hiring just ONE worker or 16 the business owner
    must have 2 water closets!

    Sanitation. - 1910.141

Just one of MANY ways government rules and regulations discourage hiring new employees.
    More examples will be coming........

Every basic economic course explains that government is 'captured' by business, and that most regulation is put in place by existing business to discourage/eliminate competition. It is called a barrier to entry.

The biggest problem we have in this country is just a piss poor public education.

The real purpose of OSHA is to raise revenue for the state. How thick is that chair cushion? Is your keyboard ergonomically correct? OSHA wants to fine people. That's what it does.

When California was severely cash strapped Gray Davis ordered an army of OSHA inspectors to nit pick business and start writing citations. Home business was NOT exempt. It took ONE incident. OSHA workers battered down a residential door to measure the chair of a telecommuter. That put an end to the inspections.

Except some of the regulations are good for the worker. If it was not for OSHA many more Americans would have been maimed or killed.

It is true though that the regulations have gotten out of hand. This is what happens when bureaucrat's have full time jobs and they are looking for something to do.

No! This is what happens when you have 8 lobbiests in washington for every 1 representative of the people.

How much money was spent by lobbiests to make healthcare reform go from socialization to government mandated regular purchase of a private institutions product??

A product that really serves no purpose so far as producing tangible goods and services?? They contribute squat to the economy except for bloating healthcare prices.

EPA,OSHA, SEC,FDA,CDC.. and many more alphabet soup agencies ALL came as a response to the FAILURE to follow ONE simple principle..
"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you"..Golden Rule!
And before a snarky "yea the one with gold rules".. my point is not theological but practical, economical, efficiency.

If half the $1.7 trillion spent every year used to comply with "rules&Regs" OR if
the same amount spent on "global warming" .."greening"..
I.E. if $500 billion spent on EDUCATING people to the real practical reasons for
"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you".. there would be a lot less need for OSHA/EPA.et.al. and definitely less money and wasted time!

A really good example IS the OSHA ruling..
If business owners UNDERSTOOD these connections:
....workers lose time due to illnesses
....some illnesses caused by not washing hands after going to bath room.
....some people not washing hands cause not enough bathrooms?
.....put in more water closets will reduce illnesses and therefore lost time!
Definitely accumulated over year loss time MORE then cost of additional rest room!
