So, and ex con with multiple felonies and an attempted murder charge with a weapon shoots a police officer in the face...

1) how long did it take him to get that gun in strict gun controlled New York
2) did the ex con who is not legally allowed to have that gun and mere possession is another felony...go through a background check.....which he could not pass anyway....
3) did he pay all fees associated with having that gun....

And the biggest question.....how long would it take an honest, law abiding New Yorker to get that gun and could they get that gun in the first place....

vs.

a convicted criminal with a violent criminal past, and at least 9 convictions, one for attempted murder with a weapon......who actually had the weapon....

Vigilant police officer shot vigilant policing under assault Power Line

The man accused of firing the shots is Demetrius Blackwell. He has nine prior arrests, including two separate assaults on police officers, according to the Post’s sources. He served a prison sentence for attempted murder after firing shots into a car during a robbery. At the time Moore attempted to question Blackwell, he was subject to an outstanding warrant for criminal mischief.

Moore didn’t know about Blackwell’s prior arrests or the outstanding warrant. But he knew based on what he saw — the adjustment of an object in Blackwell’s waistband — that Blackwell should be questioned.

This thug should not have been free.......and again....with the bragging of the anti gunners, New York is a gun control paradise....and this thug got a gun faster than a law abiding citizen

Guns are not the problem....criminal control is the problem......

A little more background on the killer....if anti gunners supported actual gun control...which is essentially criminal control...and put violent criminals in jail if they use a gun for a crime, or if they are an ex con...like this guy, and they are caught in possession of a gun, they should be arrested and locked up for a long time.......

this guy had a gun on several occassions as a felon, and wasn't locked up....and he murdered this officer.....

That is on you anti-gun nuts......

He didn't get a background check, he didn't register the gun, he didn't get a concealed carry permit, he didn't get licensed .....and he got that gun faster than a law abiding New Yorker...if the law abiding New Yorker could even get a gun.......

New York police officer dies killed by man who should have been in jail Power Line

The left and the emerging bleeding-heart right complain that prison sentences are too long. But from what I can tell, Blackwell served seven years or less for his attempted murder conviction (the attempted murder occurred in 2001; Blackwell reportedly was released in 2008).

Considering that Blackwell tried to kill a man he had just robbed at gunpoint, that sentence strikes me as too short.

(Not that it should matter much, but Blackwell wasn’t a model prisoner; reportedly, he had “institutional adjustment problems[.]“)

After his release, Blackwell assaulted a police officer while being arrested in 2013, and in 2014 he allegedly threw bricks at the windows of a house and a parked car while waving a gun. There was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

One way or another, Blackwell should have been in jail this weekend. Had he been, Brian Moore would still be alive and well.

When it comes to the criminal justice system, our priority should be keeping people like Demetrius Blackwell off the street. Unfortunately, things are trending in the opposite direction.

This monster should never have been on the street.........and all of your stupid gun control laws didn't stop him.....after all....you all claim New York is a model of gun control............

your gun control schemes are stupid and foolish.....all that needed to be done was to lock him up for life for attempted murder....and throw in another 30 for the gun....

Gun crime stopped....but no........you focus on John Q. Citizen....the guy who won't shoot a police officer in the face....

you guys are nuts....

Couldn't have been --- you just now showed up. I was the only one here, he posted "you guys" and even in the singular didn't refer to me.

Personally I think he's been experimenting in the medicine cabinet. :cuckoo:
