European colonization of Americas helped cause climate change, but Native Americans deforested huge parts of north America long before Europe arrived

Simply horrid, do you feel shame when you type and have the TV on?
No, but I don't buy their nonsense so I shouldn't be expected to feel bad about it. The world needs to use more fossil fuels, not less.

Native Americans deforested 55m hectares, causing global warming. I think that's what the article is struggling to say.

Per the OP's article, the 55 million hectares was abandoned when European settlers through violence, forced migration and introduced disease caused the deaths of 56 million indigenous Americans. Since the European colonization of the continental US, more than 110 million hectares of land has been deforested. And just FYI, the land area of the planet is slightly more than 13 billion hectares. The indigenous Americans, over a period of many thousands of years, cleared 0.4% of that.
