"Low fat" food will help you lose weight. Complete baloney. Has been proven false in major research studies. With some minor exceptions (not involving fat), calories are calories, and the fact that they are fat or carb or protein makes no difference whatsoever.

Avoid salt. For 90% of the population this is a pointless sacrifice (because salt is tasty and good for you). For some people, mainly African Americans, salt has been shown to increase blood pressure, but for everyone else it is completely harmless, even when used extensively.

Avoid direct sunlight. The people who are susceptible to melanoma (skin cancer) is a relatively small subset of the population: people with roots in Great Britain and northern Europe. For everyone else, it is a very acceptable and minimal risk. Italians using sunblock are misguided. Get a tan. Don't worry about it.

Drink gallons of water. Utterly pointless. Drink if you are thirsty and you will have all the fluid you need. In fact, many people around the world never drink water (rural China, India, rural Italy), and get all the fluid they need through fruits and vegetables and the occasional glass of wine or tea. There are NO diseases associated with drinking insufficient water.
