The town of Staufen im Breisgau drilled down to pull up geothermal energy to heat buildings and be green.

But the drilling pierced a barrier and is allowing ground water to rise into a layer of anhydrite, which turns into gypsum when in contact with water. And the gypsum expands in the process.

The town has lifted between a few centimeters in some sections to over two feet. The centuries old buildings are falling apart.

But they’re green!

lol......this is what you get when you put progressives in charge of policy. To them, costs are never entered into the equation.....no such thing as any consideration to necessary tradeoffs. If the intentions are good........do it!!:backpedal:
